I read that entry and was so terribly torn. A) yes, it's entirely possible that people have lives and don't want to go out to LKH launches every other week, but B) maybe it's because people are being polite and saying "We'll catch you next time." when they really mean, "We'll turn up to an event worth going to - like when you publish a decent book."

Both are valid arguments for the poor turnout, however, two hundred is nothing to be sneezed at. I'm used to launches that only have about fifty people. At best. Not even the allure of free booze and nibbly things got our numbers up.
