Has anyone had any bout of temporary insanity and purchased Strange Candy? I was at Borders yesterday with my sister, and she decided she wanted it, but I only got a chance to skim the first short story. It seemed oddly AU in some parts for Anita Blake, even considering how inconsistent LKH is, but I heard it was a early AB story. Can anyone confirm or deny? Also, would someone be kind enough to give me a snarky summary of each story so I don't have to satisfy even the slightest urge of curiosity I might have regarding the book?

It seemed like an early AB idea. There were odd things about the timeline, and although I wondered briefly if it was because it took place before the series even started, it seems like she wrote it pre-series. I could be wrong, of course. It's hilarious if it was written before she started writing the series because some AB cliches were already there, and it's no wonder she was rejected.

If my sister didn't live in another town, I'd take one for the team (boy, writing that hurt) and try snarking it, but I'm sort of relieved that I don't have easy access to it.

Yup, apparently these are all stories written before the first books were published, or around that time.

That's good to know, thanks. I don't know why I didn't catch that when she was talking about the book before, but I have been skimming her blog posts more and more lately.
