A skillful dissection of AB:VH #6, courtesy of Chris's Invincible Super-Blog.

Those of you that dabble in comics fandom may already be aware of Chris's Invincible Super-Blog, which offers up tastily scathing reviews, commentary, and tons of the best kind of old skool crack.

Anyway. Chris has been hilariously dissecting each issue of the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter comic series for the past few months, and it's the best kind of literary flogging.

He started out promisingly with his review of #3 (linked below):

"Yes, Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #3 hit stands yesterday, and so tonight, I'm devoting the ISB to an exhaustive, scurrilous set of notes on what may actually be the most awesomely terrible comic being put out by a major publisher today.

Grab your own copy and read along!"

Anyway. Since #6 hit the stands last week, I give you The Annotated Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #6.

The best part? Is that the creative team on the comic got linked to his entries/reviews/flogging, and apparently wrote him about his reviews. To which Chris responded:

"So! Now that I've built up a small amount of goodwill from the people who make this thing, I think it's time to completely blow it with another round of comprehensive notes on the subtle nuances and were-rat Daisy Dukes of everyone's fourth-favorite vampire hunter, now featuring even more guys in mesh tank tops than anyone could have possibly predicted."

There's bonus snark in every review about Anita's poor taste in armaments, as Chris makes her go toe-to-toe with the Punisher Armoury.

Here are all the reviews, in descending order, from #6 to #1. Seriously, I sprained a rib (and an ovary) laughing.

Enjoy!

I should follow Brubaker, but ....

I'm a TPB girl. I have more patience waiting all at once. Though I realize that means I miss out on some things (For example I'm having to hunt down Gotham Central issue by issue (as money shows up)).

Ex Machina I've liked. I've heard about She-Hulk, but in all honesty I don't get past the cheesecake covers. It's stupid, I know. But I just go 'bzuah?'. I should trust more.

I gave up on anything X-Men, uhmm 3 yrs ago was it? It half felt like people were talking because of the movies and they hadn't followed the various characters through crappo and back again. And then there was something about Gambit as Death?

Eh, anyway. Yeah, I fled to Manga.

I know!

But I did.

Even though I learnt how to read reading Batman and before my parents house burnt down I had Dazzler Old School like whoa. Any rpg I ever joined, I wanted to be her. Singing, dancing, sparkly lights and kick assness! How could a little girl not love that?

Hellblazer only won me over in the past 12 or so months. I borrowed a lot from the library. I've no idea where I'd start with buying them. Someone mentioned the female love interest in Hulk died recently. And omg, the Movie! It made me cry!

Tears of blood it made me cry!

But wow, yeah, your pull list does sound huge. I'm... really picky about giving Marvel or DC money when I feel like there's so much the could work on.

Still. BoP!

And now with Gail on WW, I'll be looking at that seriously.

I'm Hank/Kurt. Yes, I know. But Blue! Blueloverforever!

Ahem.

Seriously. If I ever met Hank, I'd ask him to sign my bra and immediately proprose marriage. I LOVE him so damn much.

Duuuuude, you're preaching to the choir here. I'd do the exact same thing, no matter what form he's in. ^_^

Oh dear. What did Jodi Picault do to Wonder Woman? (Or, if you could direct me to a summary of some kind?)

My brain. Ow.

He looks like a Drow in leather bondage. Seriously. Could not make this shit up.

Not that it's the reason I have utter hatred for Rogue (that started waaaay back around the Legion Quest era), but it doesn't hurt.

I admittedly could never follow the comics very well, but I did like Rogue in the 1990s animated show. I was young, student, and easily amused by her accent.

Gambit, though, ow. At least his thighs were in proportion?

Well, seeing as Salvador Larroca was drawing him....yeah. Thankfully. But gods know what he'll look like when he returns in X-Men #200. Possibly even more ridiculous.

Actually, all the rumous we've been able to pick up from Mike Carey suggest that he's gonna wind up in the maruaders, but not for long, and be back to his old self by the end of the story.

www.gambitguild.co.uk

Its all on there, everything we've been able to find.

Another one? I haunt gambitguild.com. And yeh, I know Carey's bringing him back, but he's a Rogue fan. I hold no hope he'll do much better with Gambit, considering she's the one who needs some serious slapping.

.com has been a little fishy of late. They actually came to us and asked us to take over and redesign their site because they were losing interest, and as far as I know our info guys don't cross-post.

Carey has actually been making some pretty big promises to put Gambit back on full form, and has hinted very, very strongly that the whole Romy thing is dead and burried and Rogue herself may well be dead by the end of things.

Dead Rogue?

My birthday has come early this year.

.com has been a little fishy of late. They actually came to us and asked us to take over and redesign their site because they were losing interest, and as far as I know our info guys don't cross-post.

Really? The owners might be, I guess, but the group as a whole seems lively. Even if it's small.

Its was one of the owner guys. Pretty much emailed us with 'since we're both doing the same thing, how about you come over to our camp and give us a hand'

Glad the group is lively though. A healthy fanbase is gonna be the best way to get him back. We're planning on sending Carey chocolate [and lots of it] if he writes Gambit well.
