You think like me, I adore you. One of my mains gets tortured right off the bat (people assume an attack by his biological parents and father's second-in-command just turned him into a vampire. They did...MUCH worse than that), and his story is part mystery-solving, part him trying to come to terms with the trauma and work his way through it. Add to that, he's a minor (yeah, like that tiger AB shagged), so trauma might be worse for him. Unlike his screwed-up parents, he actually has friends and allies who stick by him and help him even when he bitches them out and the like, but they still do what they believe is best for him in the long term, because they do love and care about him.
It's not a magical fix-it so much as having a decent support net there to catch you, but it'd make a big difference in how he comes through it, right?
