For those who have bravely read "Bullet" - is it true that JC and Asher have finally been allowed to sleep with each other, and that Micah and Nathaniel have suddenly become lovers out of the blue? I came across these rather astonishing claims on the Amazon forums. It seems bizarre that LKH has done a complete 180 on Anita's refusal to allow "her" men to sleep with other people and got characters getting together all of a sudden who never even had interest in each other previously. In one of the earlier books, maybe Harlequin, it was suggested that Asher had interest in Nathaniel, but Micah? I know he does whatever Anita wants, but what?

Okay, if the sexual activities in this series are fantasies of LKH's (and they are repetitive in both series, which is good evidence for that, plus admittance of author avatar-ness in Anita and inserts of husband and ex-husband) that means that LKH fantasises about underage youths or men who look like underage youths, raping people and taking away their free will, and some less objectionable things. It is not nice.

The writing has become seriously weird and the characters are utterly taken apart. I would have thought Richard would die rather than get into bed, even clothed, with another man; and now he's making out with Asher? Why have Anita's views changed so much? Is there any precedent?

Even a year gap in the fictional world isn't an explanation for why things have so radically changed. Progression should be shown, not suddenly retconned out of thin air. How old is Anita now, anyway? Thirty? Thirty five?

Is it really $30 for Bullet in the US? It's £6.49 in the UK for the hardcover. That seems like a ridiculous amount of money for such trash.

Besides all of the wtf out of nowhereness of Richard doing guys now, I was surprised that Anita is now doing girls. Hasn't she been against that from the beginning? Ugh...I know its my fault that I keep reading, but at least I checked it out of the library. No more throwing away cash.

It was also mentioned that Micah doesn't considering getting a blow job from a man and kissing a man as having teh gay zexx. So in LKH's twisty mind he may still be a manly man, but Richard, well, he's just a slut who'll do anything.

I think it was actually mentioned that the last time they saw Richard was 4 months before, so the utter change in his character happened in a few months. And yeah I was in therapy for 5 years and I didn't change as much as he did.

YEAH. I don't think I have been quite so angry at a book for a very long time. And I kinda knew it was going to happen, because a friend of mine read it first and filled me in and that still doesn't make it any better.

The worst part? It's not even necessary for the story. What little plot there is could have gone ahead without it. Same sorta results, but without having Nicky bound to Anita like that.

IDK, I'm not in the US. Last I saw, Bullet was $20 Australian as a new release. Which is still cheaper than Flirt as an ebook when it first came out. WTAF. Seriously, it was like $26US when I went looking for it and refused to pay on principle because it's an ebook.

As usual with LKH, Bullet annoyed me the most with the goddamn info-dumping. There is no reason to tell us all about how everyone looks AGAIN, let alone all about Narcissus and the psycho weres from the first half of the series. We know this stuff, and if we don't we can find out. We don't need to have pages upon pages of "previously, in Anita Blake books....." crap. It's completely unnatural as well, "Oh, let's all just sit around and talk about horrible things from the past that we all know happened."

Yes we do. The spoiler tag is used to mark the brain scaring stuff so that one can read the 'friendly' version of events. So if it doesn't break someone's brain then no spoiler tag is needed.

So something like 'Anita get a new man and his name is *****, and they have poorly written sex' doesn't really need a spoiler tag. But somethings like 'Anita gains a spine and kicks JC out of her life after learning to control herself, after Nathanial leaves getting a job in New York as a bodyguard' definitely needs one.
