Is this true?

For those who have bravely read "Bullet" - is it true that JC and Asher have finally been allowed to sleep with each other, and that Micah and Nathaniel have suddenly become lovers out of the blue? I came across these rather astonishing claims on the Amazon forums. It seems bizarre that LKH has done a complete 180 on Anita's refusal to allow "her" men to sleep with other people and got characters getting together all of a sudden who never even had interest in each other previously. In one of the earlier books, maybe Harlequin, it was suggested that Asher had interest in Nathaniel, but Micah? I know he does whatever Anita wants, but what?

Micah and Nathaniel? WHY?

Maybe she finally got herself a sassy gay best friend who read her the riot act about her historical perspective with regard to letting her admittedly bisexual men have a bit of fun with one another. Or maybe they let her watch and she found that the world didn't end, the sky didn't collapse in on itself and oh wow, that's actually kinda hot...now ALL my male characters will have to get it on together.
I would love to know whether this is true or not. It would certainly improve the Merry Gentry series too, imho. ;) But then I'm biased like that.

Total icon love! It made me laugh out loud.

It's true, and the scene includes Richard as well (who has been replaced by a pod person, because there's no other way you can explain his personality transplant - no LKH, not even with therapy). And of course the whole thing can only be done "bondage" style.

And Micah and Nathaniel haven't had "intercourse", per Anita's definition, but we are given a bluntly TMI statement by Micah that he knows firsthand that Nathaniel has no gag reflex. And Anita knows this because she watches them.

Micah and Nathaniel aren't entirely out of the blue. It was hinted at in Flirt that they were comfortable interacting with each other in the bedroom in Flirt, but not quite so comfortable about public displays of affection. And the think you gotta keep in mind is that Bullet takes place a full year after Flirt, so there's an awful lot that happens "off stage."

The other part that sticks in my brain and won't come out is later during one of the orgy scenes, Anita's watching Jean-Claude with one of the other women and she thinks that yes, she'd love to see the men do that with other men. Wow, really? Surely Asher and JC are facepalming because they could have demonstrated this eight books ago.

Comment contains spoilers. Read at own risk. 8D~

Yeah, she let Asher and JC finally have sex because Asher almost went batshit crazy over not being able to. He was threatening to break away and make his own territory with the were-hyenas, y'know, if he didn't get buttsecks. Fo srs.

As for Micah and Nathaniel...they aren't necessarily lovers per se. They're just comfortable enough to kiss in public and for Nathaniel and Blake to take turns going down on Micah.

And, (highlight for spoiler if you dare)

I wouldn't recommend reading the book if you can avoid it. It's just a whole mess of random crap put together to get from cover to cover with so much sex it's ridiculous. I'm glad I only wasted a night reading this.

Also, your icon = ♥. :D

she's such a stupid bitch!

/sassy gay friend moment (yay second city!)

It is, unfortunately, very true. Not only does Anita let her men sleep with each other now, but she's developed a bit of a fetish for watching them. Even Richard's involved.. which makes me want to bitchslap LKH, because he was very "I don't do men" forever, now he's making out with Asher. The new guy that gets added who's name is a pain to spell came across as more interested in Asher than he was in Anita, he and Nathaniel even took turns blowing him. As for the deal with Nathaniel and Micah, I try not to think about it because it makes my brain hurt thinking that one of these days, Micah will be involved in anal. :/

He's said something about it before along the lines of it being more socially acceptable for women to be bisexual than it is for men, particularly with leaders of lycanthrope packs, so I'm thinking he may indeed like men on some level, but repressed those feelings to the point of mild homophobia. Seems a bit deep considering what the series turned into now, but there was an actual plot when we first met him, so it wouldn't be unheard of at the time.

Ah, so the plot this time around isn't just sex, it's buttsecks! :P

Alternatively, "it's not gay, it's just a bro-job!"

XD

LOL

[identity profile] tooimpurenangel.livejournal.com 2010-07-21 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Ugh, Anita is such an...unblessed toadstool. I mean JC and Asher have had this long history (not too mention poor Julianna) and it's only okay if she gets off on it?

HATE!

[identity profile] dwg.livejournal.com 2010-07-21 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
IDK, I think I've sort of tuned out by now because the same stuff has been happening for so many books. I mean, Anita declared that guys making out with each other flat out does it for her is hot for her and made a bad comparison that maybe she likes this the same way straight guys like watching two women kiss, I think that's in Danse Macabre. It could have been repeated since, but JFC THAT WAS SIX BOOKS AGO.

The other thing is, that Anita is the sole POV character in these books, so if she didn't see it, then it didn't happen. This is why I laugh bitterly at the people who want an Edward book, or a book about JC and Asher from back in the day. It's never going to happen! So I'm choosing to believe that JC and Asher have been St Louis' IT couple ever since Asher moved back and they're totally messing with Anita's head with all this drama just to keep her off kilter and she doesn't figure out that she's not welcome to join them.

[identity profile] daphne-gateau.livejournal.com 2010-07-21 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Richard and Asher? Seems random, not to mention wrong. I could of seen Richard and JC.

[identity profile] bluesxgirlie.livejournal.com 2010-07-21 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
so it really has descended into pwp territory. and i wonder what this means for her personal life - lkh's i mean.

or is making her ex... i mean richard 'do' other guys just emasculate him? since micah (her new hubs?) is only the one with the act being performed on him?

i'm glad, so so glad, i have avoided this book and flirt.

[identity profile] daphne-gateau.livejournal.com 2010-07-21 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
haha I've always wondered about that too

I totally love this idea.

What does it say about me that finding out what a complete and utter trainwreck the series has turned into makes me want to start reading it again?

[identity profile] pandaemonaeum.livejournal.com 2010-07-21 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
^This.

The spoilers above made my jaw drop. It's just such a complete turnaround. With that level of turnaround, perhaps eventually we'll get some plots back.

You're not the only one!

At the risk of getting blasted, There were only two sex scenes in Bullet. The orgy was skipped over except for the occasional flashback. Come on, for LKH, that's positively virginal.

On the other hand:

-The term de jour was "creamy goodness" (*wretch* once was enough lady.

-The repetition was repetitious.

-Richard's brain was replaced with a brain slug Futurama-style. I'm been in therapy and I'm getting my doctorate in Psychology, that much change doesn't happen in just a year.

-Who the fuck is Nicky? Am I being punished for not wanting to spend $30 on one third to one half a book?

-LKH: "Oh yeah! I write mysteries..... I should probably throw that in there somehow.." the mystery plot is, literally 20 pages. Of Anita watching a video. In the new computer room JC had installed. oi.

-I highly doubt parents of little kids in the bible belt would be comfortable with one of the "guest dancers" making out with a dude. I'D be uncomfortable with anyone making out like that in front of my kids and I'm from San Francisco.

I think her books are on the upswing from the pit of porn they became, I really do. Skin Trade was actually going to be the last book I bought/read if she kept with the shitty repetitive porn.Slowly her books are getting better... er, I hope. ^^

I hope so. I really loved these books when I was in High School.

No, you're not being punished. Being punished is spending $30 on that book and then reading it. It's so not worth it.

As for Nicky, you are not missing out on much aside from a massive dose of hatorade. Highlight for spoilers:
