That actually happens at least once in this book if I recall correctly. There's this scene where a bunch of people are in the Circus and the aurdeur rises and some of the vampires are smart and try to get out but for some reason the guards don't let them (I really have no idea why). They end up scarred by the experience and Anita blames them for "letting themselves" get dragged into the orgy.
