Title: "Untitled, too early to title something"

I'll break out my tradicitonal LKH words in italics and me being plain text. Read the whole entry if you like, I just picked out the bits I found amusing.

The last time I talked about a friend visiting us from out of town, a male friend, some imaginative fans speculated sexually about what we were doing, or going to do with a very dear friend of ours. I have not told him, nor will I. It would have hurt his feelings terribly, and shocked him. So the one or two people that said it, if what you wanted was to curtail what appears here in this blog, it worked.

So, fans actually have the power to censor the author in regard to what she posts in her public blog. The blog where she can post anything she likes. And that’s what the evil fans are all about – forcing LKH to never write a word in her public, online blog.

Um. Okay.

But really, what are people supposed to think about her private live when her books are so full of the_pr0ns? For all we know, she might like to practice these impossible physical and phallic feats in the privacy of her own home. She doesn’t have to be so touchy about it if someone asks.

Then again, it was probably one of those evil people that are far too jealous of her talent trying to make her feel uncomfortable with sharing details. Damn those evil people! *shakes fist*

I don't know. Sometimes I just don't understand people. I don't understand being mean just to be mean. It never makes me feel better to make others feel worse. I take no joy in the suffering of other people, but apparently some out there do.

Wow, so she hasn’t got a mean bone in her entire body. She’s all about loving the kicked puppies and little fuzzy ducklings.

Egads. Nobody’s that nice. And if they are, it means there’s something seriously wrong with them. Not to mention, it’s creepy as hell. High on life people, and the perpetually cheerful rank highly in my hate lists.

On the flip side, the fact that she’s calling all the nay-sayers evil and mean and whatever else just goes to show that yes, she’s being mean. I don’t particularly enjoy being labelled amongst the mean-spirited, evil people jealous of her divine talent. I’m still a fan, and I’ll still buy and read the books. Just because I don’t happen to worship the ground she walks on doesn’t make me a minion of the Dark Lord.

Though, if it does, please, someone send me my black suit, leather pants, swooshy cape and mask. And preferably a red lightsabre. Barring that, I’ll settle for a decoder ring to prove that I’m on the Dark Side.

So do I talk here of trivialities, forks and breakfast, and leave out any personal details for fear that someone will be cruel. No. I guess I'd already decided, no. For all you descent human beings out there. For all you people who are truly fans, or friends, or just nice, this blog is for you guys. Not for the crabby, mean-spirited, dirty-minded minority. If I let a few ugly comments stop me or limit me, then they win. They don't win. Never let the bastards get you down.

If only I had numbers, I’d be willing to argue about the minority of mean-spirited, dirty-minded people. If I had numbers, I could put together a pretty coloured graph and prove that the universe of LKH is wrong. Which is like a couple of rungs below the absolute cool of writing a proof that shows that things don’t exist and foofing people out of existence.

But if I did that, it might make me one of the evil, jealous, dirty-minded minority and therefore a minion of the Dark Lord out to destroy LKH’s safe, warm, duckling and puppy safe, world.

And again, I’ll ask, what the hell are people supposed to think when the books are basically cover to cover smut? Your imagination has to be a little bit skewed toward the dirty if you’re thinking that scene with Leopard!Nathaniel and Anita!h0r sex was brilliantly written erotica.

Excuse us if we have to wonder what LKH’s sex life is like to “inspire” this odd assortment of copy & pasteds pr0ns. Either she’s not getting enough, or she should start differentiating between what’s on the page and what’s in the bedroom.

I will have to yippee that she’ll keep up the blog, just so that we can keep getting an assortment of information and insights into the author. It’s interesting, at least to me, to see the real person behind the books and get some satisfaction that I’m probably smarter than she is. Sure, I do some pretty stupid stuff, but when it comes to the crunch, I at least know that I’m living on a planet called Earth and I don’t need people to tell me or not tell me about world events and what people think of me.

Then again, I’m not an international best-selling author, so I must be oh-so jealous.

*flees to the Dark Side*

*stares* Just...wow. Going from:

So the one or two people that said it, if what you wanted was to curtail what appears here in this blog, it worked.

To:

If I let a few ugly comments stop me or limit me, then they win.

The sheer HYPOCRISY, it just BURNS.

And remember, if you criticize LKH, then the terrorists mean people win!

...Which begs the question: Win WHAT? Because "winning" implies there is something to lose (besides readership). Is this suddenly a competition? Are you at war with your fans?

Not to mention that bitching about your fan base on a public forum is not likely to endear you to them. You cannot target your books to the "right" people who "truly understand" your message and/or intentions, and you certainly cannot afford to alienate loyal fans by proclaiming that if they don't worship every misspelled word you print, they're just jealous mean haterz OMG.

I think that's why she married Jon. She doesn't HAVE to pay him, I bet...

Just because I don’t happen to worship the ground she walks on doesn’t make me a minion of the Dark Lord.

Uh, actually, I think it does. Minion! I'm telling! *points at you. waves hands emphatically*

You know, the worst part about the LKH!pr0n (other than its total lack of plot connectedness and character continuity) is that it's boring. I have moral objections to nothing; aesthetic objections to many things. So. What have I learned from LKH? Double penetration can be boring. Who knew?

[identity profile] saadiira.livejournal.com 2005-05-27 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Very well put.

No MORAL objections here, either. Hell, I've written teh pron, myself.

The objections are all stylistic, grammatical, and to do with character and plot. Or frequent current lack thereof.

I don't mind erotica one bit. I just like it when it's GOOD. And this is NOT.

Excuse us if we have to wonder what LKH’s sex life is like to “inspire” this odd assortment of copy & pasteds pr0ns. Either she’s not getting enough, or she should start differentiating between what’s on the page and what’s in the bedroom.

For some time I've noticed that Merry is EXACTLY like Anita sexually. They seem to like the exact same things and have the exact same quirks. This gives me the horrific sneaking suspicion that we're not reading about the characters, we're reading about LKH's fantasies/sex life.

I know that if I had two very sexually active main characters, I'd make them fundamentally different in terms of what they liked and did "in bed" for my own sanity. Especially in the first person narrative. No way I'd want lots and lots of readers to know what I, the author, likes "in bed".

that and she spelled "decent" wrong *Twitches*

I wonder if they fall down alot... or have phobias of ascending stairs and stuff

First of all: no capes! You can have a robe and a lightsaber, though.

As for their friend, when I read that post a long time ago, yeah, my first thought (quickly dismissed, because I do not want to know) was about their... activities. I did not write it down. But I did think of it, it's kinda hard not to, considering what she writes for a living.
I am aware of a lot of things that make me a mean person, and that doesn't even come near the list. Even if I had written it as a comment. Her problem (one of many) is that she considers every person that has written something against her, as someone that has no life to speak of, beside spending time bashing her. Yes, here we snark and mock and point fingers and laugh. But after we read and post, we go back to our blissfully LKHless lives. Sometimes it feels like *she* doesn't do anything except worry about what other people think and say. And that? Is really, really sad.

It's earlier in that entry that bugs me:

I'd set my goal that one of us would blog something every day, I think we'll scale that goal down to five days a week. That's goal enough, I think. Besides I'm not sure what to blog, frankly.

LKH, it's quite simple. If you don't have anything to blog about, you don't bleeding well blog. Just like the rest of us mere mortals. If you're blogging for the sake of blogging and don't have anything to say - be it for yourself or others - then it's time to just let it go, because all you're doing is writing pointless drivel... wait, you do that anyway. Carry on.
