Guilty Pleasures comics did indeed sell out

Dammit. LKH and Co. actually got their details right for once:

(Then again, I wonder how much of that number is suckers like me who ordered, but then changed their minds when the Marvel merge was announced, but were too late to cancel and they didn't want to leave their comic store in a lurch.)

C'est la vie. After all, isn't there a saying to the effect "What's good is not always popular; what's popular is not always good"?

To be honest, it's not surprising that the first issue sold out. There'll be the diehard fans who want it, the despairing who want to see what it's like, the ex-fans who want to snark, as well as comics fans who have no clue about Anita Blake or LKH. Really, the acid test will be to see if the sales continue for the next few issues, or if they start plummeting as people realise the things are shit.

Yeah, that too. I prefer to read graphic novels anyway, because the story is complete... or complete enough that you can feel happy enough waiting for the next grahpic novel. This said, I don't want to buy Guilty Pleasures. ¬_¬

I'm such a layman I could turn it into a superpower, but aren't the numbers printed in the first run variable? Would it be possible that the publishers were just really cautious and did a small first run, thus making it easier for the comic to sell out?

There were heaps in my comic store the other day, but maybe they aren't counting overseas figures.
