Does anyone here plan on giving The Harlequin a chance? I've read a few good reviews and the teaser was so much better than anything she's put out in a long, long time. It makes me wonder if she might possibly redeem herself with this one?

I've been reading the spoiler recaps on the lkh boards, and even though it looks better than DM, I don't think I'll read it. It's possible that it looks better only because it's in recap form- which means there's a lot of spillings and such left out.

I'm 99% sure I won't.

I didn't even bother to pick up anything past Cerulean Sins, after all.

I'm going to wait for the [livejournal.com profile] lkh_lashouts Awesome Team of Recappers From 'Nam to work their evil magic on it, chapter by horrible chapter.

No way in hell am I buying it at full price. In the UK she gets 5p whenever one of her books is taken out of the library (according to this author bloke at a writing group I went to), which I think is still too much for the crap she writes. I don't know though. If the reviews are good I might get it out. If I see it second hand I might but it but I'm not going to go looking for it.

I decided after the 'Negative Reader' rant I'd spent my last used-bookstore credit on that woman. In my Comm & Media class, I learned how to read those cover blurbs and teasers with caution. How many times have you gone to a movie based on the trailer--only to find all the good parts were *in* the trailer?

LKH is a bad investment of my time and money. The only way I think she can pull herself out of this is to scrap both of her series' and start over with something different, something that challenges her and encourages her to view things differently. She'll never be a Great Writer, but with a little effort, a little honesty, and the right people on her side, she can go back to being an entertaining author.

The Harlequin is not going to be the book that does it, however. Then again, YMMV.

I certainly won't spend money on it. I'm unsure whether I'll read it; I've read the chapter-by-chapter transcripts, and although it seems to be getting saner in some ways, there are at least three plot elements that Really Disturb me.
