LKH Comic-Con interview
Hi folks, long-time lurker, first time poster. I came home to find this magazine from Comic-Con 2007; as you probably know, Laurell is speaking there as a guest this year. There's really nothing ground-breaking in this interview, but I thought people might want to read it anyway. Please pardon the terrible scans, my scanner isn't very good -- but the horrible contrast is their fault, I swear!

I met her when I was in 7th grade (I'm a junior in college). Her and Gary and Trinity. They were pretty nice, she definitely didn't act like she does now. It will be surreal seeing how different she probably is.

If anything, it explained a lot.

CCI: Imagine that you are out on the town for a girls' night out with Anita and Merry. What woman-to-woman advice would you share with them?
LKH: Oh, you don't want me to give either of them advice. Anita wouldn't welcome it, and Merry would ignored it. Don't all friends ignore relationship advice? I don't really think Anita And Merry would get along all that well.
My Vision of How The Interview Could Have Gone
CCI: Imagine that you are out on the town for a writing circle night night out with Anita and Merry. What novel editing advice would you share with them?
LKH: Oh, you don't want me to give either of them writing advice. Anita wouldn't welcome it, and Merry would ignore it. Don't all successful authors ignore their editors? I don't really think Anita And Merry would get along all that well, both of them being Mary Sues off the same person and all. Besides, it's not like I have any clue myself what I'm writing at any given moment.

Also, this is bullshit:
"Most mixed-genre writers strive to make the ordinary fantastic. I take the fantastic and make it ordinary."
This is simply an untrue statement. Unless I'm losing my mind. It is just not so. Does she read?
(Also, some of this magazine's copyediting choices are annoying me. Do NOT ital "Micah" when referring to the character, only when referring to the book title. Gah. But that's not LKH's problem.)

I also like that she says JC and Asher don't have their own books yet, because THEY haven't come up with ideas for one. Not SHE hasn't come up with ideas, THEY.
And how can she go out for a night on the town with Anita and Merry, if they're just her? I mean for crissake, the pics of LKh and Anita in that interview are nearly identical. I wonder when the pic of LKh was taken, because she doesn't look half bad.

I think the pic just shows the difference that a professional make-up artist and good lighting can make. She really is attractive when she's not doing that harsh line of black around her eyes. I wish someone would explain how much more her eyes would rock with a smoky look that's more age-appropriate (and honestly, most people in general look better without a harsh black line on their eyes). There might also have been some retouching on the photo, mostly on her face- probably just smoothing some lines.

*blink blink*
She can't think of a story about JC and Asher that would take up a whole book?
I....what??

People who hear voices that tell them what to do are generally considered CRAZY by today's society. ;)
