I am a librarian and can truthfully attest to the behaviour seen here. I personally gave up after OB but dip in occasionally (I live in hope but live with disappointment). Jim Butcher now provides me with my high quality fix of vampire and magic!

I'll agree with the power ups although he got powered down in the last book, but what do you consider misogynist?

I live in the UK, and we've only just had Proven Guilty released over here. As for the misogynist comment, [livejournal.com profile] viridian5 is the one who brought that to my attention and she's got a post about it, focusing on how it's pretty obvious in the first book, but Harry consistently makes it clear that he considers most of the women he meets less than him unless they're powerful magically. Of course he's nowhere near as chauvanistically arrogant as Richard is, and Harry's a lot braver than Richard, as well as morally superior.
