This is from one of my favourite cartoons:

I am a librarian and can truthfully attest to the behaviour seen here. I personally gave up after OB but dip in occasionally (I live in hope but live with disappointment). Jim Butcher now provides me with my high quality fix of vampire and magic!

Date: 2007-06-13 06:01 pm (UTC)I've only read the beginning of Storm Front. (Not really reading anything right now thanks to this MCAT study prep from Doom). I was afraid the mysoginy thing was the author speaking through the char. If it's just a character flaw thing... meh. At least it makes the char well-rounded. Annoying, but well-rounded.

Date: 2007-06-13 02:06 pm (UTC)I've heard a lot of people talk about these books and I'd like to know a little about them. The covers always looked a little cheesy to me (but then again a lot of covers do) so I never picked them up...but I think you guys have gotten me interested.
Basically, I just wanted to know a little about the books.

Storm Front (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Storm_Front_%28novel%29) (first book)
The British covers are actually quite pretty:

Date: 2007-06-15 02:14 am (UTC)I would disagree that Harry's misogynistic. He may have a touch of it, such as his blase response when he sees a man cut to ribbons, compared to his anger when a woman is. But if he were genuinely misogynistic, he'd never go on monster-destroying missions with Murphy or Susan, nor would be be attracted to either strong, capable, monster-butt-kicking woman.
