Flame-worthy Fanfic

Hey guys,

I was just thinking. I have this perverse desire to write something that would drive AB fans (or AB-Natics as I call them) wild. I was thinking of writing a fic using Harry Dresden as the protagonist. Dresden is a wizard who doesn't have much love for the fang-friendly. What if Harry were contracted by someone to "Rescue" Anita from the creatures. In the process, Harry has to kill Jean-Claude and a good portion of the AB bois. Then when Harry sees how depraved Anita had become, he realizes that she's just plain sick, so he has his inspector friend, Murphy, commit Anita into an insane assylum. And, when the dust is settled, I'd reveal who hired Dresden, someone that AB-Natics would know and probably hate.

What do you think? Does this sound like something that would be fun to do because it would drive the AB-Natics wild? Or is it just a dumb idea that isn't worth my time?

Well it has merit. To drive the AB-Natics nuts of course you'd have to get them to read it. I guess posting on PDS, or Yahoo Groups would do that, so long as you wanted to deal with the flames. Although they seem, in my limited experiance, to be mellower toward fic than actually statements.

that's actual statements.

Pomme de Sang - it's a big AB fic board, which generally has some good stories, but doesn't appear to have many rabid fans, so maybe it isn't a good choice.

The funniest thing about this, to me, is that the guy who wrote the Dresden books used to be, like, the mod or something of the LKH boards. I knew him, which was the only reason I bought the book ^.^

I think the idea sounds cool, but it shouldn't be someone they hate that hires the guy, it should be someone we'd never suspect ^.^

Maybe somebody that they all love, who would never do that to Anita.

That's interesting about the Dresden author, I think there's an interview where LKH talks about helping him get started.

But you still have to make sure it's somewhat believable ^.^

I'm pretty sure they _knew_ each other, but I don't think I got the impression that she helped all that much. I mean, she was just starting to get big around that point so she didn't have all that much pull. She might have been able to give him a phone number or something ::shrug::

The story I had heard was that LKH introduced JB to her agent, who helped him along. Not sure how accurate that is, though.

OMG YES! *jumps up and down*

DOOO IIIT!!!!

And I will, as [livejournal.com profile] belladonna_ pointed out, love you for evahhhh!!!

And, and, and int he process you'll have to keep Anita away from Thomas, and you know Kincaid is probably on holiday with Edward somewhere, or having some kind of assassins convention so they'd have convenient alibis.

Oh, poor Harry, it would hurt him so much to have to go ask Murphy to commit Anita, what with his chivalrous streak and all. But he'd rationalise it as the best thing for her, so...*shrug*

*bounces* YES DOOO IIIT!!!

I say "go for it."
I would love to see the end result.

Sounds like a brilliant idea!
