Stop me if you've heard this one. Really. I think I need a hard smacking and this may well be the perfect place to come.

See, I love the Anitaverse. I just can't bloody stand Anita anymore, or LKH's writing of her.

...Which is tempting me to start an RPG. All originals, or second string characters, but no Anita - Anita's dead, her triumvirate is dead with her, and anyway the setting would be Chicago and not St. Louis, so while some of the old favorites might transfer, most wouldn't.

Oh. And no posted smut that hasn't got a provable plot bearing (like a vampire deep-rolling someone, so they can control them later, or a lycanthrope dominance contest).

I've poked around looking for Anitaverse RPGs and they're as All About The Smut as the Anitaverse itself has become. So one must assume that an Anitaverse RPG that was about the world and the laws and non-smut character interaction would probably either Go Nowhere or devolve into horribly written sex, weighed down by its canon.

*bows* Please cluebat me. Hard. The brain keeps thinking this is a good idea and should be tried. The brain is very bad and needs to be taught a lesson.

I'm in a RPG on yahoo groups. It's ALL originals, but it's still based in St. Louis. Anita and her group left for France so Jean-Claude can be a member of Council. Any sex that you read usually goes with the plot, and the writing's pretty good (Obviously, the varying degrees of quality writing depends on the writer/writers.)

Here's the link: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Crimson_Twilight/

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but it never hurts to see what's out there. Good luck on your hunt!

As to where they live... I really don't know. One of the mods that I talk to is from New York. But as I said, it's based off of LKH's work, so it SHOULD be accurate to that effect. We try to stay true to the setting.

Hey Sweetie...well, i do several anitaverse RP's online...and let me tell you, there might be a bit of smut in some rooms, but it is always plot thickening and done tastefully, outside of the actual rp room. I do know, though, that if you wanted to start a room to rp in, you might want to consider leaving all the original characters, favs included, behind because ive heard tale of other rooms (the owners being good friends of mine)having someone talk to them, telling them they can rp but not with any of the original characters...or even threaten them.

rping in the anitaverse is really fun, but you should look at some of the different rooms already avaialbe and read their rules and such and then look to making your own. I dont want to sound rude or anything in this...im just trying to be helpful ^_^ *smiles, hugs* and if you started an RP i would be there in a heartbeat *laughs* im always looking for another good room to spread my wings in!

here is the link to one of the RP's i participate it...it is set in the city of Denver and the people are really nice, i think if you had any questions, this would be a great room to ask. Go to the room Threnody, in the link, and then go look up the message boards...

my character is under the approved character sheets, Humans (with powers) Augusta Lucinda Ward...

cheers! have a great saturday!
x!

[identity profile] temperance22.livejournal.com 2006-05-20 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
by originals i mean a character that you make up totaly out of your own imagination. using anything from the original books is usualy frowned upon because tech. it is lkh's creations...she said that she didnt mind ppl rping in the universe...she supported it...but she wanted original characters to be played.

http://www.threnodyadmin.proboards55.com/

That is the link to the message boards in Threnody/Denver...and you will see that (like in most rp rooms) there are lists of powers and things that you can read about and choose from, to make you character. When you make your character you have to fill out a Character Sheet and submit it for approval before you can do any major plot changing rp...though you are still encouraged to RP till it is approved...usualy the owners of the room/moderators will read the CS over and tell you if there is anything you need to tweak in it, or approve it and tell you happy hunting *winks*

there are also threads in the forum that cover rules and general discussion of the rp. You should take a look around and register and stick your head in to watch/participate in the rp if youd like...we wont bite...*laughs* we'd love to see you around!

[identity profile] temperance22.livejournal.com 2006-05-20 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
exactly *winks* there are guidlines you have to follow...like the fact that very few ppl are let in as a master vamp, alphas, or adept music users, they like you to come in as a lower power, moderate or on the verge of becoming a master vamp/adept, because it gives you something to start rping with and makes it so that, when finally in the room, your character can grow.

[identity profile] temperance22.livejournal.com 2006-05-20 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
*grins* the pard, in Denver, right now is full of fun stuff and opportunities to rp and i KNOW that they would love a new character in there to play with and have live at the pard house. yeah, come in newly made and you can grow from there *winks* and a catboy and a largely untrained fortune teller? Well, there is no limit on the number of characters you can play, but make sure you read the threads on fortune tellers, first, before you go in there and play her or make a cs...they wont yell at your or anything, if you dont follow the guidelines, and they are always open to modifying them...but they will let you know if you need to tweak *laughs* but either way, they sound like fun characters.

Already there.

I know that a couple of RPGs I'm in usually devolve into bad smut when the game is dying - but mercifully, I've got co-mods of awesome.

Right now, we're in the process of starting a new game (creve_coeur (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/creve_coeur/)) set in a nearby town to St Louis, all original cast. Basically, we're RPing whatever consequences go through the land with whatever crap goes on in St Louis.

And then there's always LePetiteMorte (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LePetiteMorte/) - alas, I had to retire my playing of JC (and he was bitchy, dammit!) because I got thoroughly lost, but I'm clawing my way back into the game. So far, no smut.

I...have no idea. I live in Australia and have never been out of the country, let alone to the US and Missouri in particular. Hell, I'm doing good to know that St Louis is in Missouri.

[identity profile] dwg.livejournal.com 2006-05-20 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah well. I don't think anyone's ever let reality get in the way of good fiction.

We manage by doing some research of the area, generally. I personally am from NY, never been there, but keep track of things like their sports teams, real estate markets, and restaurants and attractions at varying times.

I didn't say my base of comparison was NY. I've actually travelled rather widely, and have done a good deal of READING about St Louis. Having done that with other areas, and then visited them, I'll say that it's reasonably effective. Generally, effective enough that whatever gets written is not negatively impacted., especially as concerns a fantasy setting.

The Mets rock. Sorry, they do. They do not act in a pond scummy manner, and are a very good team when they're on. The Cubs do not rock. I've developed a bit of a fondness for the Cardinals, at times.

I would expect animosity toward New York. It's NORTHERN. Missouri was in opposition to it during the Civil War, so I'd see no reason to expect attitudes to be any more accurate about my home state there than in Florida, (or Georgia), where they also did not tend to leave the state if born to it. I've lived both in the South and with Southerners. I've got a point for comparison. I've also traveled extensively in the South West, particularly through Arizona...an entity with thought patterns all its own, but also typical in some ways of a place settled later than the East Coast.

Most places of that nature also have societal dividing lines as concern what high school one went to...that's pretty typical. (In my area, we have that by town. Long Island is a giant suburb going to beach and even semi-rural in places, with dozens of towns.) Knowing which is which is a feature of living there, true enough.

Actually, the St Louis area from everything that I've come to understand is quite comparable to our own upstate suburbs, from flora to general layout, and including the windy ass streets, and some of the interesting older architecture. Likely quite close to Westchester and Putnam, at least in part, and certainly in part points further North (All of NY is NOT Manhattan, and any other city, pretty much, is in no way comparable to that..though outlying areas often ARE). The further up there, the earlier they roll up the sidewalks, also..except for Denny's, etc. The weather can also be somewhat similar, although tornadoes are rarer here.

Would there be a huge problem with marijuana and drinking amongst the bored teen population? Perhaps designer drugs? Also pretty typical where they do things like close down the local arcade for being a bad influence, and where the closest movie theater is reachable only by car.

*WHAPS* Slow, at the moment, but Game was good, too.

Every now and then, there's a bit of smut, but mostly cut, and it involves actual TENSION, or at least a damn good reason for happening.

Also involves in all cases multiple plots, a generally well played Anita, and original characters.

-Dira-

Hmmm.. this depends.
