A letter, which most of you can probably disregard.

First, a disclaimer: These are the words and wisdom of only this mule, and this mule is NOT the community mod or anything. However, free speech and all, so here's my two cents. Don't spend it all in one place, mmkay? ;)

Dear community spy-

You have no control over this community, just as we have no control over your forums. This community and those forums are separate sites, run by separate people and maintained for separate though superficially similar reasons, and as such they should be treated as separate entities. If you wish to police what goes on in this community, then to be fair you must allow us to do likewise on your forums. Since I highly doubt you will be asking us what your people can and cannot post about us (and "us" is defined as "people who are displeased with LKH's writing for one reason or another") then please, do NOT tell people in this community what they may or may not post about you.

Furthermore, the post(s) which you seem to be offended by are not specifically insulting or derogatory...they are, in fact, NO MORE NOR LESS than a report of TRUTH. If you don't want people knowing what you are doing or saying, then maybe you shouldn't...yanno...DO OR SAY IT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Also, as DWG pointed out, LKH herself said that if her fans (and yes, that is what we are, FANS, so get over it. We are not "haters," we are not "trolls," we are people who have bought and read the books and in doing so brought LKH to the status she now holds, and our oppinions AS FANS (or indeed as people in general) are as valid as anyone else's!) want to vent or rant or express displeasure about the books, to do so somewhere else. Well, Spyperson, this IS the somewhere else.

Lastly, we are breaking no rules, on your forums or otherwise. There is no rule, here or there, stating that one cannot share what is said to him or her. If someone chooses to repost something someone else sent to them, or said to them, or said in ANY public or semi-public forum, that is their right. It makes you and the forum moderator or moderators who are trying to police what is and is not posted on this UNRELATED COMMUNITY look like a bunch of crazy internet stalker people. You have really tarnished whatever remained of your positive reputation by being so childish.

No love,
K. Lawrence

fuckin' a.

Oh man. It's always so silly when people get up in arms about others criticizing things they like (or, for that matter, liking what they dislike).

I like what I like, you like what you like, diversity makes the world go 'round, etc.

That said, defending LKH's writing quality, at this point, is just as silly. It's okay if you like it--god knows I enjoy a lot of bad writers! But you've gotta admit that the craft of her writing has nosedived as time has passed.

LOL....go Mule....go Mule...It's your birthday....

Great letter!

But one thing...sense LKH is so "Uber" (snicker) sensitive about criticism...why would they won't things like we post here on her "OMG U R SO KOOL" site?

We hate her books...I can't find one redeeming thing in her last, what 8 books now? That inclues the Gentry books for me. But despite it all..I re read Guilty pleasures last night and enjoyed it.

So stuff that in orgy and screw it.

that is suppose to be Want...and that last line was directed at the Spy

I was just discussing this with [livejournal.com profile] dwg on her journal, and i was saying that our spies aren't even stealth. There are at least three people on here with no entries, no avis and no friends other than this community. I likened them to the penguin's b-list henchmen on the old batman series, and i'll paste the rest of the convo, as it had me laughing for a full five minutes
[livejournal.com profile] dwg : "At this point, I'm willing to even say that the Knights Templar - while the lamest ninjas ever what with their white tunics that you can see coming toward you a mile away! are more l337 than these guys."
[livejournal.com profile] dracoliciousss : *snorts with laughter* they are the equivalent of the Knights Templar. I'm picturing our spies in bright tunics with "ardeur" stitched across the front, instead of the big red cross.
[livejournal.com profile] dwg : Naw. They'd have red hearts embroidered onto their tunics. And shields that have chartreuse kitty-cat eyes.

Their battle cry would be Micah's t-shirt slogan, only that would get Status Quo stuck in the heads of their enemies, and it would be the Quo that drives them mad and allows the Ardeur Ninjas their lame victoly. Yes. Victoly.

Just a few revisions/notes:

We are fans - EX-fans or FORMER fans. Sadly.

They are a report of TRUTH - this is correct, to an extent. You have to admit, there are times when some people just go a bit overboard in their snark. They get annoyed or overly floggish and they go above and beyond and start insinuating things that aren't true. If we want our credibility to be...credible (lol), we need to be real about our complaints and say, "yes, sometimes we use exaggeration to try and get across how upset we are that our former fandom has apparently imploded into a tight, wet ball of annoyance.

[identity profile] lightysnake.livejournal.com 2006-07-12 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Do they scream "She's wet and tight" As a battlecry?
And what's this spy business?

[identity profile] oohasparklie.livejournal.com 2006-07-12 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
And shields that have chartreuse kitty-cat eyes.

*Snort* Imagining that is the most fun I've had all day.

I'm totally counting the days until it's created. Anti-anti communities blow my mind.

[identity profile] tyger-raven.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
I like the hitch of your wagon, my friend. I totally agree. If we all liked/disliked the same stuff, now where would the fun be in that? I say let them whine, because all it does is give the rest of us amunition to make fun of them for their whinyness.

[identity profile] infidelkast.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Trolls are my favorite type of ljers. Well, now that we KNOW there are spies, maybe our opinions will finally be heard. Like, *actually* heard. Who would go to such great lengths just to monitor a snarky, harmless livejournal community?

Have these spies ever posted other comments besides that one? I remember one asked about why she couldn't view the memories or something...

[identity profile] tyger-raven.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
You RAWK!! THanks for providing the picture.
