Spoilers Harlequin: Peter - The Pimp in training

I took Flo's adivce and decided to make a thread about Peter.

So Peter is suppose to come to St. Louis with Edward and Olaf. 

Here are the Spoilers for the Harlequin:

Peter gets clawed pretty good by a weretiger trying to help Anita.

He needs rough sex because he has issues with women because of his rape by Amanda in OB- and it was too rough for his first two girlfriends.

And, the kicker of it all - but no big surprise- he has a crush on Anita and she's his hero because she saved his family.

This is just gross. Peter having a crush on Anita is just wrong, but of course he has to crush on her ... there is no one else for him to crush on who isn't the "DIETY". 

In the timeline, Peter is suppose to be 14/15 years old. Yet, it would seem LKH will forget about his age because she forgets everything else (i.e. Asher smokes, Damian's age and oh how about a PLOT!)

But this isn't the first time LKH has mention sex and someone under the age of 18. If I remember, DM had the Siren making deals with Anita to sleep with her kids for them to come into their powers. I only thing one of them is over the age limit. So this doesn't surprise me. It is very much the direction of where LKH has gone now. The only thing on her mind is sex, sex, and more sex. For it is the only thing she writes about and there isn't anything to stop her including age limit.

As for Peter, I am not surprise this is where they are taking him. Look at Nate for crying out loud. This was a creature Anita was trying to help since BO and BM. Yet, somewhere from OB and NIC he no longer became this scared helpless barely over the age of 18 who was abused and kicked to the sideline. Oh no, he became a "stud muff"    Which I never got that. Nate is not a strong character. I still see the character as a broken boy who doesn't know how to take care of himself without selling himself one way or another. That alone is a reason I never liked the character.

There is just some things you can cross the line but others you can't. Furry sex and underage sex is just things no one should touch. Someone apparently doesn't know that. We have seen Furry sex  .... it is a matter of time for the other and it looks like it could be this next book. Of course, to justify the means LKH will just forget Peter's real ago and call him 18. I mean his "fake" ID says so. *eyeroll*

I think LKH won't write about therapy maybe because she is afraid she will learn that sex can't and will not solve your problems. Instead of drinking like most "normal" people, LKH has made Anita and the rest of the characters think sex is the answer to the questions. Anita still hasn't gotten over her mother's death or her father re-marrying. How about her ex who left her because she was mixed. She still harbors these issues and is making her life evening more of a mess the more she buries the problems underneath the next person she sleeps with.

Or maybe this is just life imitating art?

Dear lord. Cue Anita angsting for ages about how she isn't at all sure she wants to sleep with him, everyone banding together and telling her it's her duty because she has to heal his emotional scars and he needs her and besides, she can't let those silly Catholic hangups (because when someone doesn't think it's a good idea to sleep with someone, that's always caused by Catholic hangups), dramatic sex scene, lots of sappy emotional stuff, Peter gets added to the list of Anita's (gah, gah, gah!) sweeties.

Agree with you about Nathaniel, that whole thing always felt disturbing to me. It's like, okay, he doesn't think he needs to find a girlfriend because he figures that Anita is already his girlfriend? So snap him out of that delusion, Anita! Nip that creepy teenage fanboy crush of his in the bud! You're not under any obligation to start actually dating him because he thinks that's what you're already doing!

Anita, as usual, didn't heed my advice on the subject. =]

Er. What's underage sex is a matter of perspective, though. Where I live, 15 is the age of consent.

Sounds about right to me. Having someone hold you makes the world less scary. Anita seems to have completely broken and become entirely unable to deal with real life. "WAAAAHH! There's so many horrible things in the world! Rape, death, abuse, depressing, people who say mean things! Hold me! HOOOOOOLD MEEEEE!!!"

I didn't like Anita even in the old days, but what she's turned into is just surreal.

I'm with you on this one.

Nathaniel could have been a great character, he had so much potential. Anita could have taken him and shown him a way to be strong that didn't involve selling himself, shown him a way to work out what he wanted outside of the pard and helped him grow in to a much healthier character. Nate at the same time could have shown her that there was more to life than her narrow view point and that it wasn't all a bad thing.

Instead he becomes her bitch and her whore, buying her 'love' with his acceptance that he will be however she wants him to be, even if it isn't the way he wants to be. She doesn't like him to be a sub, so he'll become stronger, but only to people that aren't her. She doesn't like him to have rough sex, so he'll stop, unless it is her clawing up his back. She doesn't like him looking at anyone outside her sphere of influence, so he'll stop.

Now all we need is for her to start pimpinh him out.

I wouldn't put it passed LKH, so she can up the Anita angst by showing that Anita isn't happy with sharing her boy but it is for the 'greater good' and she'll do it anyway, fuck the consequences.

I mourn for what Nate could have been.

It's Pod-ward. There is no other explaination for why he is acting like he appears to be acting. Hell, he's probably encouraging Peter to sleep with Anita, thinking it'll heal him.

I'm going to be clinging to the fact that it could all be a plan for Edward to get closer to Anita so that he can take down the monster he always promised to kill. Her and all her darlings. That and Peter is his apprentice and being used as bait.

Words fail me at this, but only because there are so many of them trying to come out so loudly that they're getting stuck.

Is it me or is LKH plumbing new depths of wtf-ery?

Peter was raped. Whether it was a hand-job or anything else, he was raped. So he automatically goes out and gets himself a girlfried to have 'rough sex' with, and burns through two of them because he wants it too rough. All before he turns 16?

Great. Fantastic. LKH couldn't paint a better picture of someone who has been raped and the way they cope, since they all seem to cope in exactly the same way. Hell I'm surprised that Richard's mother isn't out doing the same thing.

Sure, some people would do something like that, desperate to regain the control they'd lost by being in that sort of situation and having the ability to say 'no' and have it heard and followed. But I doubt that will be the way she paints it.

This woman actually needs to talk to people who have been raped and maybe do some damn research for once.


Has anybody else noticed that where LKH used to inspire funny snarking, what with the Crotch-o-Doom, the multi-coloured harem and the grammatical/spelling lolz, she now inspires vitriolic snarking?

Is it me or is she getting worse?

Or are we just getting more bitter and jaded?

Every time I think LKH has hit bottom, she digs deeper. Before we all just rolled our eyes and pointed and laughed at the wacky antics of the crazy porn author with delusions of literary standing. Now it appears she's advocating abuse of minorities who have been previously abused in the first place. (Although you could argue she already went there with Nathaniel.) Because I'm sorry, a 29-year-old and a 14-year-old is FUCKING REPULSIVE no matter what your country's laws are, especially when that adult is in a position of authority, and advocating "rough sex" as therapy for a RAPE VICTIM...gah, I can't even begin to think about how many kinds of wrong this is.

The furry sex in ID, while distasteful, was at least between consenting adults. Pederastery? Not so much. She's crossed a line and she can't go back.

I'm wondering who on earth she thinks this will appeal to. This subplot will DEFINITELY get out into press reviews, and I imagine readers will cancel their orders in disgust.

Not to mention, LKH has a preteen daughter. How on earth does she think this kind of behaviour is acceptable? (Because if Anita does something, you know that Laurell personally approves of it.) Would she let Trinity have sex with someone twice her age in a few years? Or is Anita just so darn speshul that she's exempt from those pesky moral qualms and statutory laws?

I need to go dip my brain in Lysol to get the bad off.

I was furious when she set up to bring him back in a future book. The only way I'd accept that is if Anita shot him dead the instant he crossed the city limits.

I've read most of the AB books. I always got them from the library, so the changing themes didn't cause a change in my buying habits. But ...maybe this next one I won't.
