Target showing first hits for new guns. Jon may have won me to .45 ACP at long last.

I have shot many holes in many pieces of paper and I can tell you that that is a wide spread and nothing particularly special. The only pattern is a tendency to the lower left. Also, for new firearm purposes, the 5 bullseye targets with groups of ten holes in the paper is a better gauge of how it handles and what adjustments need to be made (particularly with regards to the sights) IMO.

It's a mountain out of a molehill again. :P

This, thank you. Also I notice there's no mention of distance.

There's a lot not mentioned. Rapid fire clusters can look different than shots taken with pauses.

I'd be kind of disappointed in a target that looks like that though, but that could be just me.

You're not alone; it wouldn't have been the target I picked to brag about. I get the feeling she has pretty low standards for marksmanship.

Agreed...I had better clusters with a 22 first time shooting, that looks like she just pointed and shot rather than actually took the time to shoot a clip, check the target, adjust the sights adjust her stance/grip and try again to see how it handled for HER.

To me it looks like the gunsights weren't used at all, that maybe they were just unloading the clip as fast as possible. Which can be fun after everything has been appropriately adjusted.

If you're going to do that, though, why not get a fun target? Like some milk jugs filled with water. Unloading into a paper target is pretty meh.

If they were at an indoor range they might not be able to do that, my brother and parents have gotten creative with paper targets. Like Joffery for example....

Ah, good point. I grew up in the sticks and forget sometimes that not everyone has enough land out back to put up a big dirt pile and plink to their heart's content.
