After much deliberation we have a title for the new Anita Blake novel that I’m currently editing. Sometimes the title comes to me before I️ write a single word of a book, but sometimes it’s almost the last thing to be decided. So, for Summer of 2018 it’s SERPENTINE! Thanks to my editor for letting me announce it first.

Mod note: LKH's part starts around 9mins in, she's on the anti-fanfic side of things.

We have a title! It's Anita Blake's first international adventure: Ireland; Damian is in his biggest role ever, and did I mention Edward? -LKH

I typed "The End" on Dead Ice last night. It's the first book I ever wrote staring out at the sea, but I think not my last. I've wanted to live by the sea since I was twelve. Today, I'm have that emotional roller coaster that comes with the creative drop after a book is finished. I know it's part of my process now, so I ride it much better than I did years ago. I remember when it first started happening, I wondered what the hell was wrong with me, but now I know. It's been a good day, enjoying staring at the sea and not writing, for a change, but I've done the happy/sad, happy/sad that is part of the first day after, "The End". I've already been talking to my editor in New York, answering some forgotten notes. Soon we'll head home to snow and cold, from our tropical break. It's been great. So glad the next Anita Blake novel is done and you get to read Dead Ice in June!

Here is Laurell's recent interview with Anton Strout of The Once & Future Podcast on Jason, Dead Ice, the difficulties and joys of a 23 book series, and how modern technology can impact both the writing and the real-world experience of a writer.

A BONUS CHRISTMAS EPISODE THAT WAS A HOLIDAY MIRACLE IN THE MAKING! Despite many obstacles, this week I talk with Queen on the Urban Fantasy Throne Laurell K. UK fans:

Many of you were unable to receive a signed copy of Jason as the bookstore we worked with in the US for a limited pre-signing was unable to ship overseas. As this was very unfair, we contacted the UK publisher Headline and they sent us a box of 100 Jason cover postcards that Laurell has signed and sent back to them for her fans.

Contact Caitlin at Headline to see how you can receive one!

DragonCon 2014 has officially come to a close. Thank you to everyone who came to the panels, signings, and stopped by the booth. It was a pleasure to meet so many fans, see so many of you in great costumes, and to share such a fun event with you! A special thank you to all of the volunteer staff of DragonCon, without you this wonderful convention would never happen. Congratulations to Milo and Julie, the two winners of the merchandise raffle!

The question and answer panel was filmed and we will be posting that video later this week.
Any of you who came by for a picture, feel free to share them here or to tag this page in them. I am working on the photo album of the event, and that will be posted this week as well. -MM Jess

Mod note: this appears to be the Dragon Con gallery that things are getting posted to.

Laurell will have three opportunities to sign things for those of you attending DragonCon. They all take place in the Marriott at the International Hall South and will last for an hour. The lines always fill up fast, so get there early! Laurell will sign for as long as she can, but at the end of her time slot each day another person is scheduled to have autograph sessions and Laurell does not want to interfere with their time. So, in order to be fair, we ask that you limit yourself to three items and then get back in line so that others have an opportunity to have their items signed as well. The schedule is Friday at 4, Saturday at 2:30, and Sunday at 10 am. -MM Jess

Many of you have mentioned that you are unable to attend DragonCon and Laurell's Q&A panel and would very much like it to be filmed and posted. We are working out the logistics of filming it and then making it available but as of now we don't know if we will have the equipment available or clearance from the convention to film in the allotted space. But we are working on it for you.

Also, we wanted to give those of you who can't be there an opportunity to still have your questions asked and answered! Post your question here, as a comment, then scroll through the other posted questions and "like" the ones you most want answered. Friday morning I will gather the top 5 questions posted with the most likes and have Laurell answer them at her panel. On the off chance that we can't film it, then I will post her answers to your questions here! Do not post the same question multiple times as I will only be looking at "likes" on individual posts and not combining posts together.

DragonCon is rapidly approaching and Laurell will be making her yearly appearance. She hopes to meet as many of her fans as possible during her panels and signing sessions. Her first panel is An Hour with Laurell K Hamilton on Friday August 29th, in the Augusta Ballroom of the Westin. It is a full hour dedicated to answering questions from you guys and is, without a doubt, one of her favorite panels every year. Do you have a burning question about Anita or Merry? Are you an aspiring writer looking for advice on navigating the publishing world? Have you ever wondered what Laurell's writing process looks and feels like? Here is where you have an opportunity to ask directly and get the answer you have been waiting for. We can't wait to see everyone! -MM Jess
