Would you like to name the next Anita Blake novel? Here is your chance. When I wrote Guilty Pleasures, the first Anita Blake novel, over twenty years ago I had a list of titles for future books. I think I had about ten to thirteen, and now I'm writing the twenty-fourth book in the series, and I'm out of sticky notes. I just didn't plan on being allowed to write this many books. I'd already had one series killed after one novel, so the thought that I'd still be writing any series for twenty-four books just never occurred to me. I never dared to dream that I'd get the privilege of writing that many books in any series. It's incredibly rare for an author to find a character and world that they love that much, and that the reading public, you, love so much that the books are still bestsellers after all this time. As long as you keep reading and loving them, I'll keep writing them, because I'm still having a blast hunting bad guys, solving crime, killing the villains, saving the good guys, dating some of the most amazing men in literature, and exploring Anita's gift for raising the dead. -Laurell

As all of the sticky note titles have long ago been used, Laurell is reaching out to the fans. What do you want the next Anita title to be?

Since you guys can't give us a title suggestion without a hint: Jean-Claude and Anita are ring shopping, and if you can come up with a great name for a vampire-run jewelry store let us know. But in case you need a little bit more before trying to title an entire book:

Anita Blake has the highest kill count of any vampire executioner in the country. She’s a U.S. Marshal who can raise zombies with the best of them. But ever since she and master vampire Jean-Claude went public with their engagement, all she is to anyone and everyone is Jean-Claude’s fiancée.

It’s wreaking havoc with her reputation as a hard ass—to some extent. Luckily, in professional circles, she’s still the go-to expert for zombie issues. And right now, the FBI is having one hell of a zombie issue.

Someone is producing zombie porn. Anita has seen her share of freaky undead fetishes, so this shouldn’t bother her. But the women being victimized aren’t just mindless, rotting corpses. Their souls are trapped behind their eyes, signaling voodoo of the blackest kind.

It’s the sort of case that can leave a mark on a person. And Anita’s own soul may not survive unscathed…

Post your ideas for the next book title here! On Friday, September 12th at 8 am EST, the list will be compiled, sifted through, and a new title chosen. Whoever comes up with the title that is chosen will receive recognition in the acknowledgments along with a personalized, signed copy of the new book.

The fine print: Laurell retains the right to dislike every suggestion made and come up with her own title. Once submitted for consideration, the individual surrenders all rights to that title to Penguin Random House. Only titles posted on this thread will be considered. Feel free to post multiple times with multiple ideas.

And, go!
