30 pages for the day in three sessions of 12, 13, & 5. Still not completely out of this section of plot. Was hoping to finish before bed, but I give, need dinner, but the muse & I have played happily today. I still got to have lunch with my husband, Jon, and went to MMA class. Also, Dancing, the new Anita Blake e-special came out today! Thanks for all the great comments, everyone! Glad you are all enjoying it!

You can order Dancing from Amazon or Barnes & Noble

To top the day off I was in Jennie Breeden’s comic, The Devil’s Panties

This has been a wildly productive & truly awesome day!

I was just about to reply with the same thing. I have no idea what the joke is. Or really anything.

I agree. Is that supposed to be lkh in the last panel with the piratey hat on?

I dont really like the devils panties due to it's odd inconsistent artwork and its slew of in jokes.

I don't read it, mostly because I feel like it ripped off of Miss Congeniality's "Satan's panties" (whether or not they did, it just disappoints me by existing).

I wonder if pirate hat person might not be Jon? (Mostly due to the lack of bosom. But the hair's a little different, too.)

I think it's some kind of in-joke. I dunno. I don't like that comic generally -- adding LKH to it just makes it even more irritating.

Every year (maybe? It's been years since I've read the comic), the artist does this thing where she blows a leaf blower up men's kilts. It expanded to become a calender. LKH was a participant one year.

...That's pretty much it.

The artist/writer hosts a frequent event called 'kilt blowing' where she takes a leaf blower to the kilts of guys (consentually) - looks like LKH is claiming credit for her being allowed to continue it.

If LKH is supposed to be the one in the pirate hat, I guess the joke is "LKH runs DragonCon and so if she likes you you get a room and an audience" but if that's the punchline, it's neither funny nor delivered well.

I think it would have been better conveyed if the 2008 and current day pictures of the crowd didn't look exactly the same? I don't even know, kilt blowing sounds like the lamest thing ever (maybe I've been a Rennie too long and see guys in kilts all the time).

It sounds like something I would have thought was incredibly hilarious and sexy and probably even deep when I was 13.

Hahaha A+. Same.

The Devil's Panties is basically incomprehensible unless you're the artist or a close friend, as far as I can tell.

Yeah, somewhere around the time when the artist got all "Omg I met LKH!" years ago, the comic stopped being funny or interesting. It used to be a little cute at first, but it's gotten about as self-referential and self-absorbed as LKH herself, and just like LKH, it vastly underestimates others' interest in (or the importance of) its obscure subject matter.

I never got the kilt-blowing thing. I'm imagining attending a kilt-blowing event and just standing there going "...okay...is that it? Am I supposed to cheer now, or just...wander away awkwardly now that it's over?"
