We've all noticed the pattern LKH has chosen for the titles of the Merry Gentry series--a vaguely sexual and/or sensual term combined with some reference to night or darkness, growing progressively darker with the series. It's inevitable that the pattern will eventually reverse itself and lead to dawn by series' end.

( The pattern is so predictable, in fact, that I started compiling a list of hypothetical future titles. )
