Hey all. This is my first time posting on this blog. I'm not sure if I'm doing it right, and I welcome any corrections from the moderators. I'm not even sure how this works or if I'm allowed to post? Are there any hard and fast rules about what can or can't be said? Please let me know or point me to a FAQ page. I'm probably just overlooking it.

So anyway, on with the subject at hand. I can't really sit down to read with a two-year-old running around getting into stuff, so I consume most of my literary content through audiobooks. I can't remember the specific reason I was checking my listener page on Audible, but I got onto my review of Sucker Punch and it led me to related books. I was surprised to see that Hamilton is releasing a new book on February 9th, 2021 titled Rafael. It's seven hours and twenty minutes long, which means this book is a little over 63,000 words (as a general rule when a narrator is voicing your audiobook they can fit around 9,000 words into an hour if they're enunciating clearly, assuming they don't have to do anything fancy like accents that are unfamiliar to them. A fun fact I've learned over the course of my ghostwriting career! :D)

I can't do the exact math at the moment, since I'm tired. But I find it interesting that it's dropped so quickly after Sucker Punch, and even more surprised that she hasn't been spamming her blog, Twitter, or Facebook about it. Right now I'm only seeing it for pre-order on Audible and other online retailers. There are some ARC reviews up on Goodreads, but that's about it. From the posts I've seen going back over the years on this blog, isn't this usually the time she starts hyping up the book? And isn't there usually a long build up over how difficult it was to write, how the muse isn't with her (or conversely how it's an amazing muse-driven day?)

I didn't notice much of a build up with Sucker Punch either. Maybe she's petering out, has someone moderating her social media, or maybe even she knows she can't top the shitshow that was 2020. I'm a masochist so I've pre-ordered Rafael. I'm interested in seeing if anyone would want me to snark it and Sucker Punch. I notice people haven't snarked much since Crimson Death. I can't say I'm very deep, but I'd be willing to give it a go.

Also, Strange Candy has gotten an audiobook, which dropped today. I have it as well. I like Kimberly Alexis as a voice actress and feel sorry that she has to read some of this stuff. I hope they pay her well. I know I couldn't voice "Jealous whiner babies" with a straight face.

Anyway, I hope 2021 finds you all well (or at least better than in 2020.)
