As most of you know now, we lost Brett Booth as our artist for the comics. I was pretty broken hearted about that. I'd hoped we could all work something out, but it was his choice and it was not to be.
I had no idea. Did the man finally come to his senses and discover that his characters looked frightening, with their ham-sized thighs and freakishly curly hair? I wonder if the new artist will be an improvement. Although, probably not as she continues to say this: Jon and I were the ones who went over every piece of art, script, lettering, that hasn't changed. So they'll just keep searching until they can find someone to duplicate the scariness - and who is willing to deal with the crazy that is LKH. A daunting task.
Then there's this:
The comic will continue. You guys will be seeing the second half of THE FIRST DEATH in October. Issue seven of GUILTY PLEASURES is being colored as I write this.
My first thought was of Jon sitting there with a box of Crayola's, making sure he stays in the lines, muttering under his breath about how nothing will stop *his* comic from coming out.
I have to admit though, I feel for her with the bad news she's been having with her dogs lately. One of my guys is really starting to slow down badly and I worry for him.

Date: 2007-08-31 07:27 pm (UTC)I didn't like Booth's art despite having come up as an Image fangirl. Maybe it was just because he made Anita look naive and her and the vampires too pale. Or it was a touch too manga-like. At least with LKH and John deciding on the new artist, it's less likely that it'll be someone working in the American manga style than if Marvel picked the new one. I hope.
The dog talk makes it harder for me to be mad at her. Going through that sucks. But at least moping about losing a dog is understandable. Unlike some of her other grouching.

Date: 2007-09-01 09:20 pm (UTC)Maybe she insists on them because like black curly hair, shortness and big boobs, chubby thighs are an aspect of her own appearance. After all, the people who are too dissimilar from her in appearance tend to be at least sinister, at worst crazy and bitchy and evil. (Remember the token girlfriend from DM? What a hilariously juvenile scene that was)
Either that, or she finds giant bulging thighs to be immensely attractive like unrealistically long hair, since some of the men have them too. I'm still trying to scour that image of Rafael's giant bulbous thighs from mine eyes.
I was just looking at one of the sketches of Richard, and it's nice. Muscular, but still well-proportioned.
Take a look at this for an example of non-LKH artwork of a pretty woman by Booth. The woman is the basic type that Anita supposedly is -- pale, dark curly hair, busty -- but she doesn't look like an albino in a wig, and she doesn't have giant hamhocks. She looks pretty realistic, actually. Oh yeah, and her hair isn't always over her face.

Date: 2007-09-10 06:27 am (UTC)I mean everyone had the egg-shaped face with the pointy chins. JC & Anita looked like they could be twins.....
Glad I didn't spend $$ on it! :-p
