Can be found here.

As most of you know now, we lost Brett Booth as our artist for the comics. I was pretty broken hearted about that. I'd hoped we could all work something out, but it was his choice and it was not to be.

I had no idea. Did the man finally come to his senses and discover that his characters looked frightening, with their ham-sized thighs and freakishly curly hair? I wonder if the new artist will be an improvement. Although, probably not as she continues to say this: Jon and I were the ones who went over every piece of art, script, lettering, that hasn't changed. So they'll just keep searching until they can find someone to duplicate the scariness - and who is willing to deal with the crazy that is LKH. A daunting task.

Then there's this:
The comic will continue. You guys will be seeing the second half of THE FIRST DEATH in October. Issue seven of GUILTY PLEASURES is being colored as I write this.

My first thought was of Jon sitting there with a box of Crayola's, making sure he stays in the lines, muttering under his breath about how nothing will stop *his* comic from coming out.

I have to admit though, I feel for her with the bad news she's been having with her dogs lately. One of my guys is really starting to slow down badly and I worry for him.

Someone "Image trained" is probably the best bet for an AB artist, though. They've got the general long-haired hottie look down. Since AB's men mostly have different colored hair (or at least different textured), it'd be easier to tell them apart than the guys in some other Image books.

I didn't like Booth's art despite having come up as an Image fangirl. Maybe it was just because he made Anita look naive and her and the vampires too pale. Or it was a touch too manga-like. At least with LKH and John deciding on the new artist, it's less likely that it'll be someone working in the American manga style than if Marvel picked the new one. I hope.

The dog talk makes it harder for me to be mad at her. Going through that sucks. But at least moping about losing a dog is understandable. Unlike some of her other grouching.

I still just don't get how LKH's brain works if she really went over those images with a fine-tooth comb and STILL thought they were good representations of her work.
I mean, I *LIKE* GP (the book). Even someone who doesn't read any other comics has GOT to see how bizarre the comic art is!

Actually, if you read down in the comments, it looks like he's pissed that Marvel seems to reap more rewards than he does; plus, they used a "bad" picture of Anita for a cover. (Is it possible to even consider them worse than the rest of his work?)

Also, someone said that Marvel isn't working with Dabel Brothers anymore at all, so it might not just be his choice.

Flipping though his dA Gallery I'm seeing a distinct lack of thunder thighs and the poster/print of Richard actually looks decent, irony the char that we know LKH likes the least is the one whose poster looks the best. So I guess LKH LIKED the thunder thighs?! *acks*

(Disclaimer: I am being as nice about this as I can be without abandoning the psychological aspects of it. Thank you.)

Maybe she insists on them because like black curly hair, shortness and big boobs, chubby thighs are an aspect of her own appearance. After all, the people who are too dissimilar from her in appearance tend to be at least sinister, at worst crazy and bitchy and evil. (Remember the token girlfriend from DM? What a hilariously juvenile scene that was)

Either that, or she finds giant bulging thighs to be immensely attractive like unrealistically long hair, since some of the men have them too. I'm still trying to scour that image of Rafael's giant bulbous thighs from mine eyes.

I was just looking at one of the sketches of Richard, and it's nice. Muscular, but still well-proportioned.

Take a look at this for an example of non-LKH artwork of a pretty woman by Booth. The woman is the basic type that Anita supposedly is -- pale, dark curly hair, busty -- but she doesn't look like an albino in a wig, and she doesn't have giant hamhocks. She looks pretty realistic, actually. Oh yeah, and her hair isn't always over her face.

*nodnod* Saw those and was plesantly surprised, this lends to my theory that he was just doing what the 'client' wanted. And given what Booth was saying about Marvel/DB makes me think that LKH doesn't have the pull she thinks she does. If she did she would be able to get the artist she wants (we presume Booth) chances are if Marvel is in control they will give the project to a low tier artist and if LKH tosses a fit then Marvel will dump the project into the hole and never give it another thought.

I suspect you're correct, especially the part of about LKH not having the immense pull she thinks she has. She's a big enough name in the wide world of book publishing to eschew editing, but she isn't a huge name in the comic world -- and the two don't overlap as easily as she seems to think, since prestige in one does not give you success in the other.

In comics you are only as good as your last book, I've seen top authors and artists fall and fall fast with a bad book. Guilty Pleasures is no Buffy Season 8, she doesn't have the sales or the pull of larger authors to warrent the deals that others get. Yeah I expect a new artist and the only way those last 6 issues get done is if it's under contract to produce or LKH gets another artist who can cope with her.

Me too. I love dogs and my baby is almost 9. He's a 70 lb mutt so I'm afraid he's going to start slowing down soon too. Sniff.

I looked at the comic and was just completely put off by it - everyone had the same shaped face.

I mean everyone had the egg-shaped face with the pointy chins. JC & Anita looked like they could be twins.....

Glad I didn't spend $$ on it! :-p
