Nope, I noticed that too, and she actually says at one point, "they were ours to rape." She tries to justify it in a later chapter, but given the fact that Anita in particular always believed that using power to rape, even metaphysically, was the worst crime you could commit, it just seemed so out of character and screwed up.

I agree 100% with your argument about Belle--in fact, I think that may be part of the reason that LKH has never written her in the flesh, only in dream sequences. Belle's a much more respectable character than the "heroine" who double-talks and acts a complete hypocrite.


It's not weird at all...I still love Edward to bits, and even Olaf. They have more depth than Anita ever could.
