There was drama, and she told me she 'couldn't put [her character] through the pain', or whatever.
Like, I'm not exactly the poster child for sanity about my characters; I've been known to buy (really cool) t-shirts because I saw them and went, "OMG, (fill in the character name) would dig that shirt and it's cute!" Or do things like tell people that 'this is how (character) feels about that' and be only semi-kidding; I think, honestly, really good characters take on a life of their own in a writer's head.
The line between 'writer' and 'batshit insane' is a thin one, though, and once you start acting like a) the character exists elsewhere than inside your head and b) act like you cannot ultimately control said imaginary person's actions, the line has been crossed.
Heh. It has been bugging me for a while now as to why the chick's attitude skeeved me out so much and yet seemed so familiar, and now I realize: SHE WAS CHANNELING LKH.
