I'm thrilled that you enjoy them :) I seriously have such a good time doing them, especially in this community because so many people take the time to write a detailed, thoughtful response like this one~
You make perfect sense: Anita absolutely does have sort of a Superman complex wherein she constantly feels responsible for "saving" someone, usually someone who has a past of sexual abuse or physical abuse. That isn't a terrible attitude to have, but it does seem like in a lot of instances the abuse takes a backseat to proving just how tough and badass Anita is, and how wonderful she is for providing some sort of weird relationship.
I completely agree with the whole "Safe job" thing as well: The safest jobs in the Anitaverse all involve sex/violence/a marriage of the two. Peter is sixteen, and it's sad that he's had to grow up so quickly given what happened to him. You'd think the adults in his life would be sensitive to that, and make an attempt to give him an environment where he can heal, rather than thrusting him into a battle where he's responsible for killing a weretiger that's bigger, badder, and shiftier than anything the pros have seen.
I liked the fight scene quite a bit, because for once it wasn't solved with some metaphysical crap. It was a knock-down, drag-out fight that got messy. People got hurt badly, and the damage wasn't confined to easy-to-fix areas. Also, I kind of like it when the hero/heroine's first attempts don't work--sometimes you need to throw everything plus the kitchen sink to get rid of someone who is trying to hurt you. thank you again for the lovely response~
