I don't think Anita ever had a real conscience or concern for the rights of others.
She just used to repeat the things she overheard that sounded correct. Her sources used to be religious sermons or politically correct slogans, now she spouts therapy-speak, but in both cases she is oblivious to the actual meaning of what she says.
