As much as I enjoy Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar and Halfblood Chronicles series, I never could tolerate her take on urban fantasy (okay, I just read a couple, but still). I mean, elves and NASCAR? Not my deal.
She is kind of hit or miss, I think. But I'm going to try her Elemental Masters series at some point because I think the premise sounds interesting.
