Indeed, though I don't really see this as making her a sorry excuse, either, I do rather feel bad for her to a degree. If only she could go one step further, and see that now that she's kicked him to the curb, she's gone overboard, just to rebel against him, and that it's really NOT been a positive thing for her writing.
On the flip side, I don't disagree with the after school special entirely. She's absolutely right about people who pressure you to have sex, and that there should be a caring relationship of some sort in place, and that not just for teenagers. (at least enough of one to ensure that protection gets used, IMHO). She's also quite right that the biggest virgins of the lot tend to have the most information. They know the consequences. What she neglects to speak of is that where it's going to happen anyway, you'd be best off having information. Kudos, though, on pointing out the part about oral sex. Too many adults don't know that.
