Happy 4th of July, everyone here in America! To the rest of the world, go on about your business, nothing to see outside your front doors. Here we're grilling food outside, enjoying an unusually cool day here in St. Louis, Missouri. It's usually 90-100F here in July, with humidity high enough to drink the air, but this year it's only 60-75F, and a lovely breeze. It's like being in a different state. *laughs*
I usually work this holiday and then watch, "1776" in the evening with my husband, Jon, and our daughter, Trinity. This year I slept in, and Jon and I went to Panera for brunch and brought something home for our sleepy teenager. Jon's parents are coming soon to help us grill by the finally finished water garden. It's beautiful, at last, and worth all the effort and SNAFUs. Our friend Sam is joining us, and later my ex is picking Trinity up to take her to see fireworks. He'll have her for the weekend, and it will just be Jon and I. Whatever will we do? Hmm . . . let me think. *grins* We were going to be joined by the other man in my life, Spike, but he had a family emergency. It's turned out all right, but no way to change plans for him and Genevieve. Hopefully next year the four of us will be together on the 4th, wherever it finds us.
Jon just texted that Sam is here, and his parents aren't far behind, so bye for now. Be safe this holiday, enjoy the pyrotechnics and the drinking responsibly - I want all of you around hale and hearty to find out where this next year of adventure takes us all. For all of you that are far from home serving our country, our thoughts and wishes are with you for a safe and uneventful holiday, thank you for your service. My sister-in-law is serving currently, and I hope she's home with us next year, be safe Fran, we love you!
