Upside: There's a slim chance that the next book might be readable. Maybe. I mean, they tried with Crimson Death; it had maybe two rounds of edits. Making LKH take over a year to refine a draft is something she desperately needs.
Downside: She's fully capable of wasting the extra time until the last minute and we still get a steaming pile of iddy trash.
It's also nice to know that it's totally not her editor's fault, totally not, and she's no longer set on "breaking in" Cindy. Instead, she needs to grieve the loss of her previous editor from two years ago. Because all this travel and happy relationships and loving pets are so haaaaaaaard.
