And no, I'm not talking about Anita's vag.

I have not read any of the AB:VH books after Obsidian Butterfly, which I bought just because it featured Edward, my "omgleik, fave character evar!!!1"

For some reason the snarks, rants and horror stories on this community have prompted me to throw my brain out the window, and order NiC. Luckily being a college student means I can order it through the librayr and not have to pay good money for this tripe.  I've heard about how godawful the later books are, I guess I just want to find out exactly how bad.

It's like a train wreck. Once you look, you just can't look away.

ITU...I haven't bought a book since the mess that wasy ID, but my hubs wants to read the upcoming one (Harlequin's Twat or whatever it's called), so I'll probably end up reading DM and the new one. If only to see just how bad in can get.

Have you ever watched the late night, softcore porn on Cinemax?

Now, imagine that...without censorship.

NiC is a literary masterpiece when you compare it to DM. Still, it's...it's...let's see, at the time it was touted as "more introspective" and a "departure" from the Anita we've all known and loved. My recollection? Prepare thyself for character assassinations of the highest order.

And trauma via liquid soap.

See, I read NiC first, so I was only mildly disgusted and glad that I found it for free instead of being folled into buying really bad fanfic thanks to a somewhat decent title. No offense to fanfic authors, I know that there great ones out there but 85% of them are as crazy as LKH.

But really, it's surprising how LKH seems to think that the ardeur is about female empowerment when it's forcing a woman to have sex whether she wants to or not. Someone needs to explain to LKH what "rape" means. Because the first time I read that vomit inducing sex scene with Micah in NiC, it felt like rape to me.

Danse Macabre made me LONG for the days of Narcissus in Chains. When you've read NiC, you will be BAFFLED that the woman is still being published.

I may be biased because he's one of my favorites, but Narcissus is the only saving grace of that book. That is, if you can ignore his being physically impossible (because LKH doesn't believe in research dontcha know).

I loved him too. I was gutted and infuriated that, after a great introduction to the character, he ended up being reduced to a footnote in the last chapter.

What's NiC like?

Ever been tempted to gouge out your own eyeballs?

You will be.
