On Tuesday I went to the bookstore looking to spend my birthday money. While there I decided to toture myself a bit by reading Strange Candy. I read the first story, the early Anita story and it made me nostalgic for the early books when Laurell and Anita were both sane, when Anita actually had a job other than trying to bed every man she knew. It was a good story.
I just kinda skimmed through some other stories, but the intros put me off reading much. It made me remember what I liked about the early books and how far she's fallen.

Aw. I can't read it because I will have the same reaction.

I'm reading it at the moment. It does make me melancholy, remembering how good she was and reading the Anita I fell in love with. If you can get past the intros, which are wrath-causing and hilarious in turn, the stories are good.
