lkh_lashoutsI don't want to write too much about it, but you can be sure, that LKH has lost her mind or at least the last contact to the rules of the Anitaverse. I found 3 big and ugly YABBIs, but I'm sure, that the total number will rise with each and every chapter.
The spoilers are from the Wolf Howl reading, where she read the first 3 chapters of Danse Macabre.There was also a Q&A session, so even more stuff to discuss..
I'll comment on it later, but I'm too tired right now

My two questions:
#1 (after the reading)-- Most of the sexual relationships were initiated to feed the ardeur, now that she has found sex does not feed her from all of these people will they still be having a sexual relationship?
answer: The great thing about fantasy is that a woman can have a sexual relationship with 6 men......and it works. **mumbled under my breath, "not for the men" Answer ended when she started talking about juggling balls in the air.
#2 (before the signing)-- With AB written as first person it is by nature repetitive, with all of the books and novellas you have planned will you be writing any from another characters point of view?
answer: no, anita is my muse, merry is my muse----although first person has not been the best way to deal with RAZ.
Other answers from questions:
She doesn't know yet who the father will be or if AB is pregnant (or just wouldn't spoil it---the rest of the book is full of spoilers, Jon visually showed us that the spoilers start at the speaker stand......then he started walking and kept walking...and don't end until the trees)
Edward will be making an appearance in DM but the book is now 400 pages and he hasn't arrived on scene yet.
She talks about Olaf showing up, maybe one day, unannounced? with Edward?
Micah novella: AB is going out of town to raise a federal witness who died before he could testify. Micah goes with her as food. Micah mentions that they have never been alone like this together which freaks her out.
Jason book: Jason has declared that he has been around long enough to get his own book. So he is going home for thanksgiving and bringing AB as "the girlfriend" to ease his mother's mind (who thinks he is a stripping homosexual).

Danse Macabre reading:
Chpt 1
scene: AB's kitchen
players: Ronnie and AB
subject: girl talk, AB missed her last period (two weeks late)
In this girl talk we again hear that if animators do not raise the dead it will happen by accident and that catholics excommunicate animators.
Ronnie had come to talk to AB about moving in with Louie but AB's pregnancy scare took priority (and that would have been selfish of Ronnie).
We get a list of the AB's current sexual relationships as a run down of who could be the father:
JC, Asher, Damian---old vampires
Micah--snipped,
Nathaniel--very possible they have sex every other day (sometimes twice a day)
RAZ---also very possible (Ronnie didn't know AB was having sex with him...7 times in the last month)
Ronnie has a hard time believing all the sex her "uptight monogamous friend" is having. Ronnie thought the baby would most likely be JC's and blames him for turning AB into a whore with the ardeur. Ronnie is surprised at the sexual relationship with Nathaniel because she thought he was just food. She suggest AB start using condoms and asks, "can you really have unprotected sex now and like it?" AB answers "no."
AB does not want to tell any of the men until she takes a preg test but they are about to go to a cocktail party to meet other visiting master vamps. Ronnie agrees not to tell.
Micah and Nathaniel enter after just going for a run. AB kisses Micah and Ronnie gets mad saying they were putting on a show to rub it in that AB has all these men and she is going to be stuck with only one. We find out that Ronnie's list of sexual partners would be in the triple digits. Nathaniel gets mad and says something like, "oh, that's not showing off, this is." Picks AB up and puts on a little show. Ronnie gets upset and blurts out something like, "are you going to act like that in front of the baby?"
Chpt 2
AB is now pissed and does not want to deal with Ronnie's penis envy because she is just jealous of all of her men. Ronnie starts calling Nat names and we find out she has been doing this behind AB's back for awhile. Nat finally stands up to this and lays into Ronnie. Telling her that she is jealous because she wanted to know what it was like to sleep with him and it might have been possible when he was just food but now that he is in a relationship with AB he's off limits and that makes her angry. She can't deal with being with one man and she needs therapy before she loses him. Ronnie admits to all of this, Nat gives her a card for a therapist and she leaves----for everyone else to clean up her mess.
Micah, Nat and AB talk about the possible pregnancy. Nat offers to go get the preg test, saying that she needs someone with her. We find out that when Nat was on the street at 13 he had only been with men. His friend, Jenny (15), was his first heterosexual sex---the first time to see if he liked it and other times to get better at it. She went through a pregnancy scare and he was with her when it turned positive and when she went to have an abortion that her pimp paid for. She was eventually killed by a client. She was Nat's first crush.
They decide to get the test to take after the cocktail party and that AB won't tell anyone else unless it's positive.
Chpt 3
scene: CotD back door entrance
players: AB, Micah, Nat, and Graham
Graham is playing bodyguard for the cocktail party but when AB arrives he[Graham; Nanale] does not step out of the doorway to let her pass right away. AB gets pissed and starts pulling rank. It was actually read something like this: "I am Lupa of the 'insert clan name here', I am Nimir-ra, leader of another 'people'." We come to find out and hold on to your cookies lady and gentleman: AB is looking for a new pomme de sang.
*I forgot to add in the original post that AB had her blood tested and she tests positive for three strains of lycanthropy: wolf, leopard and lion. She has no idea why lion or why she can carry three strains at once. She also does not shape shift, she just carries beasts inside her.
That's right someone pointed out that the reason AB had to feed so often was that she was feeding off of other people that she shares power with thereby draining her own power when feeding off of them. Soooooo all of her current boyfriends are now giving her lists of men for her to have sex with. Graham and Requiem are the current candidates. They both however are also current lovers of Ming Da. Requiem has stopped sleeping with Ming because he wants the pomme de sang job and knows AB does not share her men. Graham however wants to feel the rush of the ardeur but is not willing to stop screwing just for AB.
As they reach the bottom of the stairs we find that JC is upstairs helping Asher deal with Ming Da who is causing problems.
That sounds worse than all the books from NiC to Id together

At-home urine tests are highly inaccurate. If AB had half a brain, she'd do what I did...get a blood test at a hospital, which is almost totally accurate.

I'm a completist. I own all of LKH's books but the most recent two, and those I've borrowed and read. I thought A Stroke of Midnight was an improvement, albeit not much of one, and it gave me hope for Danse Macabre. I now see how misplaced that hope was.
This book is making me question not only the extent of my fannishness, but the very nature of reality itself. She isn't even pretending to try anymore...it's 400 pages of drivel and porn, with an aside of massive random character assassination and uberpowers.
Congratulations, LKH. You just turned me off of buying even the paperback. *golf claps*
And now a book on Jason. Oh, yippee. Please do not fear the sarcasm. Of all the characters she could have concentrated on...JASON?? True, it could have been worse--a 300-page paeon to Damien springs to mind--but in a list of characters able to hold a book, Jason is hardly at the top. No reason she could have tried, say, Edward? Jean-Claude? Hell, I'd gladly read a book on Willie McCoy--anything but the interchangeable fucktoys.
Of course, she couldn't REALLY have any character strong and interesting enough for a book...they might overshadow Anita, and we can't let THAT happen. (I mean, LKH deliberately weakened Jean-Claude to make Anita look good; I'm actually kinda scared to see what she'll do to Edward.)
