This might be just considered 'mean' but Laurell K. Hamilton is just not an attractive person.

Which makes it more and more interesting that all of her characters are so physically perfect.

I think her appearance has alot to do with her age. I have seen one picture of her from when she first started publishing the Anita books, and she didn't look half bad. Turn to now, and her looks have deteriorated a bit.

Yeah. She was cute at one point, now, she is rather aging.

'course, there's nothing WRONG with that, but it must be killing her, or I don't think she'd write half of what she does.

I'm certainly not one to talk about attractiveness, because I'm not gracing the covers of magazines by a long shot, but... hola, LKH, let up on the make-up! It's severe. In half the pics I've seen of her, her foundation (or whatever... I don't actually wear make-up... the stuff on her cheeks and forehead, at any rate) looks like a coating of wax.

Agreed! For someone that writes her heroine having issues with make-up, LKH sure doesn't cut back. And the fact that she uses really unfitting shades of lipstick with heavy eyeliner just adds to it.

THAT'S IT! She wants to be paler than she is so she wears foundation eight million shades too light... but then she wears bright red lipstick to make her skin seem paler.

She isn't, but I wonder how much of that is not her physical features, but the attitude she projects... The few times I've seen her, she didn't seem like the most confident/charasmatic of people. She was either defensive or very... 'nervous-looking' might be the best phrase. Like she expected some kind of attack at any moment. Kinda hangdog, in fact.

Made me feel a little sorry for her, actually.

I mainly have a problem with the way she dresses. Can you say angsty-teen much? You're a professional author, Laurell, it wouldn't kill you to pull out the dress pants on a book tour. Save the word-shirts and tight black pants for typing!

there just comes a point where the goth look becomes really inappropriate and sad. her look is just not age appropriate and it's glaringly obvious

but authors do have a tendancy to be rather fashion/cosmetic impaired

though, I do think she could benefit greatly from a trip to a day spa and a total make-over.
