I was browsing Barnes and Nobel today and came across an author that sounded reasonably interesting.  After reading the back I looked to see what some of the reviews were like and came across this gem ...

"Liu's screenplay worthy dialogue, vivid action and gift for the punchy, unexpected metaphor rockets her tale high above the pack. Readers of early Laurell K Hamilton ... and catch a rising star." -- Publishers Weekly (Starred Review)

If that isn't a professional jab  that her writing (I use the term loosely) has gone south, I don't know what is. I ended up buying this book because of that review.

ETA: The book is Shadow Touch  by  Marjorie M Liu

I think I read about this from [livejournal.com profile] catskin, and this may well be one of the new trend of books making the divorce between early/later LKH an official kick to the teeth nads. Which just gives me this warm, fuzzy, glowy feeling. *shines like Gandalf the White*
