I used to love the series, but then the plot went away and it shows no signs of returning.

So who else wants "Mommy Dearest" to wake up from her sleep and kill off everyone?

Hello! My name is Meredith (sad but true). I’ve been an AB fan for about a year, I just reread the series, and my opinion is pretty much the same as everyone else’s regarding new vs old AB. So, a question for you long-term fans:

Even though Danse Macabre is a horrible book and only has two and a half stars on Amazon, and the latest books are ranked similarly, DM seems to be selling well. For a fantasy series, the AB books seem fairly well known. I’ve noticed people saying LKH is only popular now because of the quality of the earlier books, but most people I know identify this series for the porn.

Were LKH’s books selling well before the shift to plotless, repetitive sex? Or did her fanbase only grow in the NiC etc. years? I just worry that she has no incentive to try to recapture the story of the original books if there really are more people who enjoy the current crap. So, thoughts?

O.K., I work in a library and DM came in today. It was very, very slow (the computers were down) so I perused it at the desk. Somewhere in the midst of chapter 19, my head impacted with said desk. Only after I had done it did I realize that I had just had a literal "headdesk" moment. Here there be spoilers. And monsters. But mostly spoilers. )

I give up. Seriously. Words fail. It just... [wails] It makes no sense!

I also hope this works because I am woefully new to this lj stuff.

Earlier, while I was watching a special on ghosts on the Travel Channel, I saw advertisements for Danse Macabre. During the breaks, the commercial circulated, and every time I saw it, I was sickened, and I felt a small part of me die. I hadn't realized that commercials for the damned thing had already began circulating, though I did hear about it awhile back in this community. I'm willing to bet that LKH is pleased that the book is getting TV exposure. *rolls eyes in disdain*

And I'm going to guess that with the commercials, obviously, the book is going to get even more attention, and garner even more fans, therefore attracting more sheep to LKH's garbage.

So...thoughts, anyone? Forgive me if this post isn't longer, but I'm feeling rather ill at the moment. This is just a something I thought I would post here.
Has anyone else seen the blasted commercials and had their stomachs turned as mine was by it all?
