I do love a good bit of drama, and right now, for those who haven't seen it, metaquotes has turned into a forum for LKH bashing.

After the quote went up for something said here the other day, there have been more LKH related posts; at least two, and the response far more anti-LKH than with some of the posters to the original meta!

Yet more proof that we of the "Vocal Minority" are not such a minority after all.

In other, rather unrelated news, I've still not bought the most recent LKH debacles, and still refuse to do so. I have, however, read both Jim Butcher and Kim Harrison's latest, and without posting spoilers, will simply say that they were both quite awesome, with Harrison in particular getting kudos for having the balls to do something that LKH does not.

As happy as I am that Kim did her fifth book proud (and better than the fourth's like whoa), I'm still sad. Very sad. Because damn it, why!?

And Butcher's book was also fantastic, though I'm wondering if he'll ever resolve the whole Wild Hunt thing.

Right? Man, I dislike him. And that means that Harrison's doing her job. She's created a character one can well and truly HATE...and you have to first be made to CARE to do that.

I stopped caring about completing the series collection after the debacle before Micah.

Hey...you paid for it, you get the right to complain. Hell, just for reading it you get that right. I might read it if it sits in front of me, but generally? I'll take advantage of the snarks. I get the gist of what's left of the story that way, and I'm still actually entertained...though not by LKH, who seems to have completely lost that ability.

The longer the series stays sucko, the more people who've been reading hopefully will drop off. Her initial core fans, at least, are by vast majority from what I can see, getting sick of her.

Too, thankfully, there are now more and more fine alternatives of a nature similar to, or better than, her original work. She didn't initiate the genre, nor is she the only one writing for it or something similar. Competition is helping to kill off the itch.
