Slightly off-topic here, but I remember my first experience with the concept of the hunt was via Susan Cooper. It came across as fearsome, awesome, beautiful and freaky as shite.

In Jurassic Park - would the dinosaurs be sexier and prettier?
As much as the Elves in M. Lackey's Serrated Edge series piss me off by their continual one on one saving of small abused children - Can you imagine those stories as written by LKH? Would anyone have time for the children?
Maybe we should take comfort that she stuck to prettifying the Unseelie and smexifying St. Louis.
