Inspired by the upcoming Jason novel I’ve started a little something. However I can’t bear the thought of dragging myself through the books again to find some things. They aren’t massively important things but I thought you might remember. Can anyone tell me what Jason, Asher, Nathaniel and Richard look like?

 

I tried looking it up and found a massive Anita Blake site. But then I noticed they’d used some of the beautiful Castlevania artwork by Ayami Kojima for the layout and ran off crying. My poor babies T__T

Richard is tall(6foot+) with tan skin and brown hair and eyes. Hair was long but in a childish fit over something or other, he chopped it all off. Very muscular.

Jason is a blue eyed blonde and if I remember correctly, shorter. I don't remember him having any other distinguishable features. His hair was skater long but he cut it off. Ordinary, not beautiful, just ordinary.

Asher has the lovely Mary Sue gold hair, long, that hangs in his face with pale blue eyes like a huskey dog. He is also covered on one side with scars. Lots and lots of melty type scars. But only on one side of course. The other side is oh so beautiful. Supposedly he was supposed to be seeing a plastic surgeon who had promising thoughts about healing some of the scarring but like all other nonsex related plot points, it fell into the black hole behind her desk with all the other lost sticky notes.

Nathanial is a special cookie/snowflake. I always imagine his being a tallish Cousin It with a fetish for being beaten. Auburn hair to his knees/ankles with mary sue violet eyes. Flowers were mentioned as comparing to his eye colour I think. He's short(I think) though I don't think anything really is mentioned ever about his body shape. It's always the hair, how it smells like vanilla, how his ponytail bounces, how the long braid looks like a rope and makes him seem like he actually has short hair etc. This is why he has become Cousin It in my mind. His descriptions are allllll about the hair.

I tend to remember the details like this. Even in the most horrible of books.

Nathaniel used to be very small and slender but when he hit 20 or so(omgcradlerobbing) he started filling out in the shoulders and getting kinda built(I think it was mentioned around Incubus Dreams). Both Jason and Nathaniel are short for guys, I seem to recall that Jason is just about Anita's height and Nathaniel only slightly taller (5'6" maybe).

Sure, it was a childish fit over Anita, but I'm glad he did it. Because originally, I thought that since Anita liked her men with ridiculous girly curlslong hair, perhaps Richard would be spared her doom.

Alas, I was wrong.

Also, I believe that Nathaniel was roughly 5'6" or so, maybe 5'5". He wasn't much taller than Anita herself.

Is it my imagination or did Laurell K. Hamilton watch waaaaay too much Gundam Wing before creating Nathaniel?

Given that when Anita/JC first see Asher naked they go all gooey over his omg beautiful cock because JC was sure it was ruined forever but Asher says that they just cut off the skin (I think it was just the foreskin but that's sounding a little strange to me) so it was fixed. Thus we may assume that at some point in the past Asher saw a plastic surgeon or a reconstructive surgeon but never managed to do more than fix the cock because that's really the only important part for Anita anyway because she loves his and his scars of doom unlike all the other ebil women out there.

That was Cerulean Sins. I got kind of confused between what she was saying in JC'S memories that Asher was "ruined" and then the implications that the holy water really didn't touch him there. Yeah, and Jason is described as having short-cut blonde hair (at least, in the last book I actually read and enjoyed, he did) that makes him look older, blue eyes, and a boyish smile. He's pretty small and non-threatening. Also...his, um, genitalia is sadly normal human-sized and slightly curved into his hip when erect.

I've seen the up. I've seen the down. The way it's described, it seems like a sharp left turn or something, like he's terribly misshapen... and only Anita's magic girl parts can straighten it out.

I think at one point Jason's hair was described as being thin and wispy. He has stayed a blond since his introduction.

Richard by ID is very built, at one point Anita thinks he's almost getting too much muscle. He's got a very pale natural tan because of somebody non-white in his family tree - Anita likes to muse on this in the earlier books.

What's so wrong in saying 'Richard had someone who was not white somewhere in his family tree, and it showed.'

And then you say his skin was golden, or golden brown or prone to bronzing instead of going red or wtf ever.

I'm now trying to remember if there was ever anyone black in her books outside of GP.

Yeah, she's had plenty of black people show up through the books. Never romantic interests though.

I think Richard having someone "not white" in his family tree for the skin pigmentation was like Anita having a "Mexican" mother and get the black hair. This way LKH can make it look like she's racial friendly characters, but make them still be "white people."

I think LKH was trying to use Anita's "Mexican" hair and Richard's "Not-white" skin pigment to make it appear that she doesn't have a racial bias.

Jamil, who was there only to be a macho asshole and get smacked down by Anita. Also Vivian, who was horribly brutalized and raped, got rescued by Anita, and then vanished.

And not black but a minority, there's also Shang-Da, a badass werewolf with killer fashion sense who is nonetheless invisible on Anita's sex radar.

I'm pretty sure the only nonwhite who ever pinged Anita's guydar was Bernardo, and he of course was Bad News and so never really a threat. Ahem.
