I agree with you whole-heartedly. It's not the fact that I don't think some rape victims may respond this way, it's the fact that LKH's choosing this type of response for Peter. In the hands of another competent author, sure, I could understand the interest of exploring that character. In the hands of LKH it's going to be a shocking portrayal of rape victims and their reactions to that rape.
Just when I thought that woman couldn't get any worse, she comes out with shit like this that makes me want to shoot her.
