It's over! My disturbing, somewhat masochistic relationship with Laurell K. Hamilton's "erotica" is DONE. It was hard to say good-bye. I had been reading her books for about half my life. Getting a new Anita was such a thrill. Now, The Mannequin fills me with dread. All the characters who I loved have changed.
I don't know if I can stop cold-turkey, though! Would I be a total hypocrite if I just read GP-BB? Then pretended a tragic accident befell St. Louis and the series ended.

That means no more Micah! No more randomly inserting where-animals for the sole purpose of sex. Except for Gil the werefox. Did he ever actually do anything besides be a werefox?
Maybe in my alternate universe Melanie comes back and causes a little more ruckus.
These were the books where I like Anita. I liked the fact that she was gun-shy after college dude treated her like crap.
I liked Anita's practicality. The not necessarily being attracted to women, but kissing Yasmeen (sp?). It showed good survival instincts. NOW she'd endlessly angst about what if she enjoyed it!?
Oh yeah, and I will never have to deal with the "bad kitty" debacle from ID. In MY alterverse, Nathan does not exist! It's tragic, but he was only interesting to me for two books=(

Question: if I completely stop reading the books can I still be a Lasher?

You mean not be driven to insanity by the idea of 15-16 year old Peter being on line as an Anita victim. Not reading book after book of gay men who are in love with Anita. Not trying to figure out why Raphael has been lusting after Anita for years without letting her see it? Not experiencing Anita the Goddess of the Church of Eternal Life? Wow-now that sounds like a freeing experience ;-)

Oh, absolutely, dear. Many of us have either already stopped reading the books, or are just about to read the last straw.

I see no hypocrisy in this. Seems perfectly legit and within your rights. Am I missing something?

Ah, I see. Well, I would never hold it against you. (I mock online excerpts. ^___^) Plus you've already read a significant portion, right?

It could be a general mock instead of specific...

Seriously. She started out just having lycanthropes, and then she had to go and add in all the LOLcanthropes.

Your icon O_O

I don't even want to think about the possibility of that pairing, especially with Rice's Jesus-wank.

Muahahahahahha.

So would that make the comics better... or worse?

(And, your icon! Loved that episode.)

I was looking up info on werewolves today and came across a wikipedia article about lycanthropes that specifically mentions wolves, tigers, lions, hyenas, foxes, and jaguars as being most common. it's like LKH just wikipedia'd when doing research, saw that, and just said "Oh, okay!"

Mmmm. I liked the approach Robin McKinley took in Sunshine: a world with all kinds of lycanthropes. The book had little throwaway lines about how there were were-gila-monsters in the southwestern deserts, and Change-suppressant drugs available on the black market (particularly popular with were-chickens), and lines like "Do not make a were-skunk mad at you; your life will not be worth living."

HAHAHAHAHA!!

Oh My God, were-chickens. That has to be the suckiest life EVER. Everyone else changes into something cool with teeth, and the were-chickens are just... fucked. Damn.)

Hey all

I went to my bookstore today to pick up a couple of books. Not TH, but I'll confess it was really hard not to pick it up and leaf through it, if only for old times sake. But I'm attempting to break the LKH addiction and go cold turkey so I refrained.

Anyway, the B&N had 15 books on the New Hardcover table. I asked the sales clerk how many had been sold. As of 6:00 pm the answer was 'none.' Dare I hope other negative fans are breaking the addiction?

I never actually sat down to read the books and I still count myself in? I'm just here for the lulz.
