... I'm afraid I don't. That LKH is spilling her sex life into her books? That she's spilled over from sensible author into bad pr0n?

I think you have the wrong type of group here, m'dear... We are not a group of current fans; we are a group of folks who perhaps /used/ to be fans and are now disgruntled, disappointed and at times wholly appalled by the way LKH is manipulating the English language and the remnants of plot to sell more books.

Do check the community and make sure this is where you want to be posting things...

Can I be a horrible, mean human being and suggest we put up somekind of notice that you have to be able to spell and use basic english to post?

Please? I'm still reeling over how a new Laurita is at all a good thing, like a real good thing rather than a TWS good thing.

I used to think that, too. Then I kept reading, and realized that between all the badly-written porn and the MIA plot, spill became the least of my worries. :3

She's not even part of the community anymore. o.O; I checked out of curiosity, to see if she perhaps belonged to other LKH fan communities and simply joined this one because it's LKH without checking what KIND of LKH, but no. She made that comment...then left.

It sounds vaguely like a trolling attempt, albeit a really lame one.

There IS a good thing about this post. It sticks out like such a sore thumb that it made me REALLY appreciate the usual very high standards of grammar, punctuation and capitalization that the members of this community adhere to. Good work, guys!

I never want to seem like a snob, but is it really that difficult to grasp basic concepts of English grammar? I could understand if English isn't your first language, but most of the people I know who learned English as a second language speak and write it better than people who use it as their first language.

Example: Night. Not nite. Nite is only acceptable when used as "Nick at Nite," which even bothers me because it is n-i-g-h-t. The end.

Perhaps it is because of the slang. People will write as they speak, 'y'know' and all that. Non-english speakers simply don't know the slang. I guess.

I was amused by the Kingdom of Loathing game's approach (http://kol.coldfront.net/thekolwiki/index.php/Ghost_of_the_English_Language) to this issue.

Oddly, that's the first catmacro that's made me feel bad for laughing.

I couldn't laugh at that. I've still got guilt left over from when my kitty had to be in one of those after his hip surgery.

That bothers me as well. I also hate when people spell things wrong on purpose...like "Krazy Kuts"

GAH!

Actually, it’s typical of what I've seen of how they teach writing these days. The approach appears based on the idea that "if you can speak, you can write". Unfortunately, the student’s command of spoken English is sorely lacking. They subsequently end up writing worse than they speak. I'd wager that it’s their ignorance of basic English grammar behind the appeal that Hamilton's incompetent writing holds for them.

And when my puppy had to be in one because of surgery to her leg. :| I was laughing at the message in general, not the cat. I know animals hate those damn things...

Aww, that cat macro actually makes me feel...kind of sad. Poor kitty.

But yes, this is indeed a case of extreme failure
