Oh my God! I was having a rare nosy on LKH website and saw some comments on the message boards about Hamiton maybe seriously injuring or KILLING OFF one of the male main characters in the next Merry book! There was speculation and even a vote from fans on WHO should be killed off. I'm shocked and vaguely interested, what if she's ACTUALLY going to kill off a main character? The main opinion or guess work seem to suggest Frost will be one killed off, which would be interesting.

What do you guys think? Would she actually kill off a main character? If she actually kills one off there's hope she might put Richard or Nathaniel out of their misery!

I doubt she'll kill off a major character. I remember her claiming to kill off an important Anita Blake character in THE HARLEQUIN... instead, she got rid of a few minor bodyguards. But I could be proven wrong (doubtful, but not completely impossible).

And no way is she going to get rid of Richard or Nathaniel. God(s) forbid she get rid of anyone on Anita's list of men. I would love, though, if Damian, London, and Byron (the gay stripper who loved having sex with Anita in ID) died in later books. What? I can dream, can't I?

I'll believe it when it happens. They (the character in danger) will probably talk her out of it and she'd have to go to the bother of removing them from her Christmas list.

I hope it's Frost and that in true emo fashion he offs his own goddamn self.

I keep hoping for her to suck it up and kill of a main character as well. I mean, how many Battles of the Massively Powerful and Dangerous can they have where they all escape unscathed? There were so many great characters that she used to keep us updated about that have fizzled out (probably because they wouldn't have made good smut fodder...not that the current list does any better!). I know I'm curious about what happened with Merle, Noah, Vivian, or any of the other Pard members. And does anyone remember what she actually did with Elizabeth?

My greatest hope is that she kills off Jason. I like that character and hate to see him so stagnant, appearing only once every book to help out with something sexual.

I'll believe it when it happens. They (the character in danger) will probably talk her out of it and she'd have to go to the bother of removing them from her Christmas list.

I about died when I read that she had the whole present shopping thing for her characters. Someone needs a ticket back to reality.

I read in her blog a long while back that she actually hates Rhys. Doesn't like him for whatever reasons and hates writing him or something. So I would be really impressed if it wasn't him that she kills off. Second to that... dude, Rhys is great. I loath her.

She won't kill off any of Anita's crew. Maybe Merry's (I'm not familiar with those books, though, so I can't put in my vote) but when she finished the first Anita book, after killing off... that one guy... she made a promise to Anita that she'd never kill off any of her other men.

That's right.

She promised a figment of her imagine that she wouldn't kill any of the other figments of her imagination.

It seems like if she wants someone gone, she just pretends they never existed rather than actually bothering to do the job of ending them.

This is funny because LKH did a whole blog about a promise to Anita not to kill anyone off that she cared about. I guess the promise not to kill anyone off was just to Anita and not to Merry. Who knew ---

I bet LKH will not kill them. In the end, Merry will not want to talk to LKH if she does and LKH can't have that.

She will chicken out. Death is apart of life yet not so much in LKH's fanfiction.

Yeah, I bet Auggie will kill himself after he realizes that he can't have sex with Jean-Claude unless Anita is present as well. :\

I seem to remember a blog where she talked about one of the Merry guys being in danger of dying, and she was fighting with whether to actually kill him or insert some magical plot device (most likely sex) to bring him back to life.

Chances are, she'll end up not having the balls to do it and magically bring him back to life. Wouldn't want to hurt Merita's widdle feewings or, you know, make her have to suffer or grow as a character or anything.

I'd bet a ton that Merry's men are all safe. We wouldn't want to see Merry cry or anything.

A gay stripper that loved having sex with Anita in ID. I don't remember that (I think I blocked it). That's sooo in character. No, really. [/end sarcasm]

I'd get rid of Damian, London and Byron, yes. But mostly, of Micah. Yeah, I'd kill him dead. I'd make him die horribly. Horribly, I tell you. And possibly Richard, but just to end his misery. I would actually be able to kill most of the male characters (and yes, Anita too, but without her there would be no books... not that that's a bad thing at this point) except maybe Asher, Jason, Edward, Rafael and Jean Claude (I know he's a manipulative bastard, but I like him a lot, for some reason). ^___^

*sigh* Jason has his own novel now. I don't think he will die any time soon. :p

He will just be another man in the harem, who will now only shag the great love of his life, Anita Blake (and that is not Jason at all, he is a playboy), while Anita has sex with a multitude of random vampires/werecreatures. AND demands he (and the rest of her boyfriends) put up with it and threatens to end everything if they even think of looking at another woman. Pfft.

My vote also goes to frost and his whiny bitchiness. I'm not holding my breath though.

And what is this about a present shopping list for all of her characters? o.O

Isn't it ironic(not) that the second Jason gets a real girlfriend Anita has to put her brand on him by taking him out of town for the weekend, and to his hometown no less.

Thus demonstrating that the Anita is the most imporatant woman in his life, just as she is for every other hot male in series.

Even minor female characters aren't allowed to avoid being humiliated by their "sweetie's" fealty to the Slut-of-Saint Louis.

In an interview (or maybe one of her blogs), LKH said that she went Christmas-shopping for her characters before realizing they don't really exist. She claimed it was because they're so vivid and real to her; I think it's a sign she needs help.

And if I got any of this wrong, feel free to correct me.

In this area, LKH reminds me of JK Rowling -- Rowling insisted that Book 4 would have an IMPORTANT death. Instead it was the rather pointless death of a kid who was so nondescript I forgot who he was. Said the same thing about Book 5 -- offed a popular character, but not an important one anymore. Only in Book 6 did we actually get somebody commonly present to die.

I get the feeling LKH is going to be doing this too -- hinting that someone terribly, terribly important is about to die, and then offing someone she introduced specifically for that purpose.

Which is too bad, because the books badly need whittling. Richard could be redeemed, I think, if Anita got smacked down enough to get some humility, and Jean-Claude isn't yet so far gone. But Micah needs to be killed, hopefully in a bloody and humiliating way -- maybe his giant penis gets aroused, and siphons all the blood from the rest of his body, killing him instantly? Nathaniel also needs to die, the little twit. Edward might as well die, because his balls are gone.

nightangel486, or having Merry lose one of her harem -- less than the maximum is too little for these "ladies."

alucard, I read that too. My first thought was, "And she went off her meds WHEN?"
