Ok... I'm having something of a mental block with the novel I'm writing, and a load of smaller blocks concerning other short projects...

I need something mindless to get the creative juices flowing once more and was concidering a "Bored of the Rings" style parody of the Anita Blake books.

What say everyone?
I promise to do my best to make it at least readable.

Oh, also... which book does everyone think would be the best to start with? Something I can really get some snarkage from and bite at.

Opinions, anyone?

While parody is protected by law, LKH has I understand aggressively gone after fan fic and even some RPGs on line in yahoo groups who use her Anita, John Claude, and the rest. Personally the mark of making it is when people do fan fic and the rest. I can not remember who the author was did witch world did a antholgy book where budding authors, could use her world, write stories that reference her people , that where new storys all on there own. I would say it will be a fun read but a tough sell to a publishing house.

It's not something I intend to send off to a publishing house... at least not until I'm massively famous and rich (haha), it's just a little bit of fun to keep my occupied while I have a break from my other stories...

Smart lady . Fan fic will happen, its the cost of writting a good story people like why not reward the good fan fic?

I know! And it's not like having fanfic out there will stop people from purchasing your book. It's exactly the opposite- people might read a fanfic story and then read your book, to understand it better.

Look there is some real crud out there like harry potter/starwars/slash with LOTR stuff that to be honest no one gives a rippty shit about. Then, I read some fan fic that is not using the authors own characters and I am like wow! This isn't too bad. If LKH were smart she might collect some of the better ones and oh... make a book. She made a great universe to play in. Too bad she is the mean old lady in a frumpy house coat who watches from her window to scream "You kids keep off my grass"
