apparently lkh's current work is all a product of

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curse_of_the_ninth

the curse of the ninth. obsidian butterfly = 9th book, all books after it = utter shite

instead of lkh dying after her ninth work all works afterwords proceeded to die instead

problem. solved.

not gary leaving. not the lack of editors. not even jonboi.

lkh was cursed from the very moment she started writing obsidian butterfly.

aha!

Like a writer's variation of it! BRILLIANT! The inspiration died instead of her...

So does this Curse of 9 work if you change format? I mean will she become a brilliant (ok-average) short story teller? Inquiring minds want to know.

Eh. I still don't see the big deal about Obsidian Butterfly. It's one of my least favorite books in the series. I thought NiC was crap, but it held my interest better than OOC!Edward and skinless corpses, not to mention Anita's sudden inexplicable ability to swipe every vampire's creepiest power.

Cerulean Sins was far better than OB, in my opinion. Even Danse Macabre had the virtue of introducing Sampson and London, both of whom are more interesting than any character I remember from OB.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. I liked NiC and CS much better than OB. The ending just made me roll my eyes and go "OH come ON! Star filled night eyes, give me a break!"

IMO, the curse struck her muse dead, but Anita resurrected it, so it became a twisted decaying zombie called Melodrama, which spread its infection over both her storyverses like the viral plague in Heroes, laying waste to all things plot.

Works for me.

Eesh. One of my main worlds bases a lot of things around the number nine. I planned on stopping at the ninth book. Great instinct, no?

But seriously, this theory is effing brilliant.
