I saw this mentioned in the artwork post beneath this, and I had to do a blogflog.

We're back home. Yea! I did better on the flights than I've done in the past. There was a moment on the homeward bound one that I started to panic, but I remembered to slow my breathing, calm my pulse, and just not let the physical reaction lead to the mental and emotional reaction.
You know... I thought we had all gotten over this already. It has been said many times that sleeping pills work wonders when it comes to fearing plane rides. Oh wait. That would take away some of your specialness. How unthoughtful of me.
It worked. Where the body goes, so goes the mind; at least for me in this.
Wait. I thought she said somewhere that there was no cure because everything is linked within her? Oh wait. That was her conscious and subconscious that had a link. Oh well. Might as well throw in the body to complete a metaphysical triumphirate.
Jon, Trinity, and I, have already watched one episode of NAURTO that we TiVoed.
Yes. NAURTO. Believe it! Though... I really have to wonder how she can stand to stomach the dub voices because really... who's TiVos Naruto? (And I don't apologize if you are one who does.) Well... At least she's not watching Bleach...
For those who watch the show, can you believe what a crazy bugger Saske has become?
Who is this "Saske" you speak of? And since she's only where the English anime is, I'm predicting when it reaches the part in the Japanese manga where Konohamaru does his yaoi!Jutsu her opinion of him will probably change... dramatically.
Where is the kid we watched at the beginning of this show? Jon says that all the hints and clues are there.
O RLY? Maybe the subtle nuances of "There's someone I have to kill" from the third episode were just to subtle for LKH's mastery of foreshadowing and plot twists.
We've even gone back and watched some of it, and he's right. Sort of.
Because Jon cannot have possibly seen something that you missed.
It's there, but did it have to go this bad? Poor Naurto. I am all out of sympathy for Saske.
*dies* I can only say that I am so happy that she hasn't made any references or pay any attention to Gaara... yet. But you know... of course she would have no sympathy for Sasuke because he betrayed a main character and that's inexcusable. Period. Because main characters are love, and everyone must love them. *notice a trend much*
For those who don't watch the show, sorry if this makes no sense at all, but if I tried to explain it would be pages, and it still might not make sense to you.
Naruto and Sasuke were training to be fully qualified ninjas. They were on the same team, and were great rivals but still friends (sort of.) Sasuke's family was murdered by his brother when he was a child, and he has sworn to take revenge. Sasuke becomes uncertain of himself when Naruto starts to surpass him, so he sides himself with this other evil person to gain power.
ZOMG. It took so many pages.
We've got so much television TiVoed that we can't watch it all tonight. It being a school night and all.
School nights affect Laurell the Great Writer? Sure, Trinity has to wake up in the morning, but I thought she had Jonboi to take care of that.
We have a new episode of DIRTY JOBS, new PYSCH, a TOPGEAR that we haven't seen, though I'm not sure it's truly new, a new episode of CHUCK, and a second new NARUTO.
Wow. She spelled it right for once. It's a miracle.
EDIT: Oh... except for I just noticed that she misspelled "Psych," so she's back down to negative four.
That's all Trinity-safe, but we also have the new season opener of TORCH WOOD, that is not always Trin-safe. So we'll save that for later.
Wow. Trinity is seven. All that TV can't be healthy. Whatever happened to... I don't know, reading?
We also TiVoed a show from the History Channel on the Great Wall of China. It's two hours, so it will wait for a none school night.
That... probably would actually be interesting. And beware for none school nights. It's a crossover between "non" and "nun." They of course, being religious, are untrustworthy and feared among small children such as... I'll just stop. Shall I?
What? You thought all I watched was vampire stuff and scary movies?
Nah. You're too much of a sap for chick flicks and happy endings. Trust me. It shows.
Too much a busman's holiday.
Aside from the plane trips and the EXTREME!phobias and the whatnot.

Well, that was what we call a "synopsis". In LKH-writing, it would be more like, "Naruto, who has [insert length] hair the colour of [insert bad metaphor] [insert paragraph of irrelevant history], and anyway [insert relationship synopsis] with Sasuke, who [insert hair/eye colour, complexion metaphor, comparative size of cock]. Anyway, [insert Sasuke's history] which made no sense to me until Jon explained it three times."
Wait! I forgot ...

Date: 2008-02-02 06:26 am (UTC)It's a good thing she has Jonboi there to explain that sometimes in fiction someone may even betray a friend.

Date: 2008-02-02 06:48 am (UTC)Seriously, it's rather sad that she cannot comprehend this. Even more, that she cannot comprehend a betrayal in part of a story, AS part of the story.
Wanna bet she was equally shocked in "Lord of the Rings" when Boromir went crazy and attacked Frodo to try to steal the Ring? THAT came outta nowhere!

Date: 2008-02-02 06:42 am (UTC)NOOOOOOO. You mean that, uh, that was more than just "angst angst TRAGIC BACKSTORY angst angst!" You mean there is a supporting character who isn't constantly quivering in fear of the Big Bad Guys, so the lead can rescue him/her? Dang, what are these weird characters doing, actually following up on their character development?
And here I thought that character development could only take place via screamy hotwettight sex, as long as the characters do not break away from the lead, make regrettable decisions, make ANY decisions on their own, etc.
Seriously, that post really does show that LKH is really inept at arcs, at oh-so-subtle hints (so, Orochimaru constantly tempting Sasuke with power was... FORESHADOWING? Really? Get out!), and at characterizations any deeper than "this person has a giant penis and no spine, so he's a good guy." "Naruto" ain't high art, but it's apparently complex enough to confuse hamsters, parakeets, and LKH.
I sort of wish she WOULD watch Bleach, so she could froth at the mouth about all these evil people who actually have the GALL to fight The Hot Adolescent Lead with the hair like [bad simile]. They are evil! They must die! Even if they eventually end up his allies... wait... so complex... brain exploding...
And I can't help but find her attitude about Sasuke really funny. She calls him a "crazy bugger" and describes how she has no sympathy for him because he's being SOOOOOOO MEAN, when his worst actions look tame next to Anita's Selfless Loving Actions-For-The-Good-of-All.
Re: Wait! I forgot ...
Date: 2008-02-02 05:00 pm (UTC)Oy...no wonder the woman can't plot her way out of a brown paperbag, if the plot twists of Naruto catch her off guard.

Date: 2008-02-03 03:27 am (UTC)I think Naruto and AB:VH actually do share many similarities:
1) Angst. Angst. And just in case I haven't drilled it into your head, angst.
2) A premise that doesn't actually work right (ninjas are supposed to be stealthy, while vampires are supposed to be scary)
3) Ardeur = "Sharingan ex Machina", at least in terms of plot-required powers.
4) Protagonists who scoff at centuries-old monsters (Anita ad absurdam, Sasuke managing to out-evil Kyuubi).
5) Post-2000 AB:VH = Naruto filler arcs
You know, I can't think of anymore right now. Anyone wanna help?
