As Laurell announced at DragonCon, "a movie and a possible TV show based on the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter 16-book series is in the works". Let's beat her to the punch. (Figuratively.) Make a pitch for AB or MG to get made into a TV series or a movie. I'm not talking a "formal" pitch, obviously.
Tone: You can be totally serious. You can be ironic. You can make it into a teen drama, a reality show, a musical, whatever. That's up to you.
Format: I'm making this up off the top of my head, so for now, I'll say anything goes, within these guidelines:
- you must put "Challenge 11: AB/MG pitch" in the post's subject line (AB if you're doing an Anita pitch, MG for Merry—and N for Nightseer, if anyone wants to bother)
- TAG YOUR ENTRY with the "challenge #011" tag
- your pitch MUST be behind an LJ-cut
- you MUST include a disclaimer stating that the characters and world belong to LKH; if you use any images, music, writing samples, etc., they must also be properly credited
- no hardcore porn. If you want to push the sexual envelope, please e-mail me with your idea, and I'll address it personally
- please spellcheck and use reasonable grammar. I don't expect academic accuracy, but if you talk about "Anita loosing her gun", you should know by now how that will be received here
- don't hotlink. If you want to use music or visuals, upload your stuff to your own space.
Big rule for participants: Be prepared for criticism. Yes, within the rules of the community, members are meant to be civil to each other, but if you aren't prepared to take constructive criticism about your pitch, don't post it.
Big rule for commenters: You are free to dislike the pitches. You are not, however, free to insult the people who post them or make derogatory comments. "OMG, that's such a stupid idea" has no value; "That doesn't make sense: Anita's a necromancer, not a gun runner*" (* = for example) at least identifies what you think the problem is.
WARNING!: I pretty much came up with this in about 2 minutes, so I may be forgetting completely logical things. I may edit rules into this post at a later time, but I will advise the community about that. When in doubt, ASK ME. If you aren't sure, ASK ME. If something is not explicitly covered, ASK ME.
Deadline: September 30, 2008
Questions?: ASK ME. Don't assume. Honestly, I will answer questions without cannibalizing you. =) I'd rather you ask me if something is okay than have you post it and have kerfuffle result.
