*cracks knuckles* Here we go! First is the actual pitch and then the notes on the changes from Book to TV Format, this is also assuming that I can have Laurel and Jon, maybe Darla for good measure tied up and gagged in a closet somewhere and allow the rest of us to make a decent show without interference.

Standard Disclaimer- I do not own Anita, or any of the other pour abused chars in LKH's books, I am not responsible for any of characters staging an escape from the Alcatraz...I mean the Ivory Tower to saner TV Writers.

Series Title: “The Executioner”

Premise: “The Executioner” will follow the adventures of Anita Blake; a Latino woman in her late 20’s who has the gift of raising the dead and allowing them to speak to the living. Anita, due to her rare talents frequently assists the police and other law enforcement agencies in their investigations; she is under the employ of a Private Investigation Service, Animators Inc. To increase her talents she has been trained to hunt and kill vampires, she’s very effective at this and has earned the title “The Executioner” among the local vampire crowds. A Woman of strong morals, but lives in a world that is quickly becoming more gray than black and white, Anita will struggle with keeping true to herself while associating with things that violate her code of ethics and doing acts that mark her to many the same as the monsters she protects them from.

Series Setting; The Setting of “The Executioner” will be St Louis, Missouri, about a decade after Federal Legislation was passed to give paranormal beings, primarly vampires and werewolves at the series start and will include the introduction of other beings as the series progresses, the same rights and protections as normal citizens. Before these laws were passed it was perfectly legal to kill a paranormal and face no consequences for the act, after the laws were passed a paranormal beings were entitled to due process, allowed to legally own property, run businesses and hold jobs. If a paranormal being is found to break the law and cannot be brought to justice via conventional means then only specially trained and licenced Hunters can go after them and either bring them in or kill them if given no choice.

Supporting Cast:

Jean Claude- A Vampire several centuries old who owns a series of Adult Entertainment Clubs though out St Louis, many of the cases Anita works will somehow connect to him, or his clubs. He has an interest in Anita, she intrigues him but why is not clear. He may see her as the ultimate conquest or something more.

Rudolph Starr- A Detective in the St Louis Police Department, he is a frequent contact of Anita’s on the cases where the Police are involved. Works closely with Anita and sees her as a necessary evil, he doesn’t like having to bring in outsiders on police matters but with this new age of Paranormal Crimes and the lack of trained police able to deal with them, he needs to turn to Anita for help.

Bert Vaughn- Owner of Animators Inc and Anita’s Primary Employer. Recruited Anita shortly after college, concerned with making his business a success he will usually take any jobs…even less savory jobs…if the price is right. He does care for his company and his employees and wants them all to have good lives; he has more ‘flexable’ morals than Anita which leads to several clashes.

Veronica “Ronnie” Sims- Anita’s best friend since collage and joined Animators Inc with her. She is an investigator like Anita, though she doesn’t do the ‘shooting’ part as she puts it. She is Anita’s confindante and supporter and the one Anita goes to when a case has her stumped or has gotten personal for her. She tries to keep Anita grounded in real life and not turn to much to the dark side of the business they are both in.

Richard Zeeman- Anita’s main love interest, he’s a Local School Teacher and a werewolf. He keeps his were nature a secret, even from Anita at the being of the series, due to the possible effect of it costing him his job.

Season Overview- The first season will focus on the turmoil and racism still surrounding paranormal beings establishing the world Anita lives in, the laws are only a decade old at most and there are many people who still believe the best monster is a dead one. Despite their protected rights and status as full citizens many paranormals still dwell in the shadows and refuse to show themselves for fear of being hunted and harmed. Episodes will center on Jean Claude’s openness of his Vampire Status and the retaliations against him, his employees and his businesses. Richard’s werewolf nature and how keeping it secret effects himself, his job and his relationship with Anita. The main characters will often have to face the decision on how far to ‘out’ a vampire or werewolf, or face that even apparently ‘normal’ people are actually paranormal blurring the line between monster and human. Later episodes will center on the ‘hidden societies’ of the paranormals and their internal power structure.

Changes- The title was too damn long, shortening it makes it sound cooler and sticks in your mind better. Making Anita a Full Latino rather than the white skinned, black haired goth princess she is will be a nod to making the Show more PC, I omitted naming the ethnicities of the rest of the cast since the actual producers will take care of that no matter what is actually in the books. I’d tried to stick to the ‘feel’ of the early books and decided against basing the first season on any single direct adaptations of cases from the books themselves, yes I know Anita eventually found out about Richard but how she finds out in the show will vary from the books. The viewer will know well before Anita does. Episodes may be ‘inspired’ by them but direct adaptations could eventually lead into a porn fest and we want to avoid that at all cost. Making this series a separate continuity from the books would go a long way to keeping that from happening and make the TV Execs breathe easier, giving the ability to pick and choose the direction of the show.

Okay poke away! I’m ready for it! This was done in like 30 minutes off the cuff so yeah I expect screwups.

Well, I like it! Given the pitch, I think I'd watch it, and I like how she's completely Latina in this version. The situation with Richard sounds cool and promising too! The 'outing' and 'blurring' sounds so much better than 'sex sex SEX' and I'm always up for learning about paranormal societies and power structures...oh, it's like I'm seeing what the serious COULD have been if not for LKH's nuttiness!

Nice, it takes all the elements that were (and to a certain level still are, though buried) good about the series and fits them together ^^

Nice work! I'd watch this for sure if it were real :)

Ditto what other people have said about keeping the things we do actually like about the series and yay for Ronnie and Dolph *g*. And keeping the sex out of it can do naught but good! :)

I would watch this, definitely.

However, isn't Ronnie a private investigator? Or was that a deliberate omission?

Huh. I could have sworn she didn't, but I must have been wrong. It's not like I'm going to go re-read, I just managed to finish repressing. :D

I would be so excited if this were a new show this fall. :D I think this series pitch should be the gold standard.

I can't think of anything to critique. The only thing I'd add would be Edward as a recurring character.
